Great amps. For sure. But Rectos are up with OG 5150s for me as far as my home tones (I know your thoughts on the OG and I respect it. But nothing gives that same buzzy satanic blast like the OG)When I got the 5153 6L6 it kind of replaced my use of the roadster for a good bit as it kind of “solved some recto problems for my hyper specific use case” with a similar end result in a more convenient package. However I didn’t think it sounded -quite- as good as the roadster, and after primarily using the EVH for a bit I kind of had a “re falling in love” scenario with the Mesa. but shortly after I traded the roadster for the Mark V lol. Still want another roadster… or MW if I ever see one for the right price
Right now I'm just using the Stealth 112 cabs. I'm not playing at gig volumes so it's plenty loud. I'm probably just going to grab a horizontal Recto 212 and call it a day. Till I can load up the 4x12, at leastI love my 5150 III 6L6, but admittedly miss the Badlander… and the SLO clone’d JCA100hdm. Need to get to a place where I can justify owning all 3, and the new Recto. #goals
What cab are you running @JiveTurkey ? I have a Randall Diavlo 212 w/v30s that sounds glorious, but then I got a Mesa recto 212 w/v30s and the Randall can’t keep up.
The Recto 212 is not even the slightest bit insufficient for stage volume.Right now I'm just using the Stealth 112 cabs. I'm not playing at gig volumes so it's plenty loud. I'm probably just going to grab a horizontal Recto 212 and call it a day. Till I can load up the 4x12, at least
Just put some 12” casters on the horizontal 2x12 and you’ll be fine.Right now I'm just using the Stealth 112 cabs. I'm not playing at gig volumes so it's plenty loud. I'm probably just going to grab a horizontal Recto 212 and call it a day. Till I can load up the 4x12, at least
Yeah I am not worried about it keeping up. And the 112s are plenty loud; they just aren't rated for 100 watts between the two of them. I am also running them through a Palmer cab merger as they are both 16 ohm cabs and the MW doesn't have 2 16 ohm taps. The Recto 212 is not even the slightest bit insufficient for stage volume.
Yeah that will be the one I get. Still a litttttttttttle short but manageble. I'll end up with one later this year I am sureJust put some 12” casters on the horizontal 2x12 and you’ll be fine.

I suggest looking at an older model and checking the speakers.Right now I'm just using the Stealth 112 cabs. I'm not playing at gig volumes so it's plenty loud. I'm probably just going to grab a horizontal Recto 212 and call it a day. Till I can load up the 4x12, at least

This is the Gear Forum, therefore the answer is automatically yes.Sell it!
There is no reason to have a Recto, a Stealth, and a Fractal. My love affair with the 5153 is over. It is a one trick pony. If you have a Fractal, do you really need the evh?
Totally anecdotal, but you must be the dozenth person I've seen express negative sentiment about the EVH cabs along with the caveat that they sound much better when you replace the stock speakers. They may have hedged their bets in the wrong direction on their factory speaker choice.I hate to weigh in here uninvited with a somewhat negative view but here I go anyway. I am not a fan at all of the Celestion G30H Anni drivers in the 1x12 or 2x12 EVH Cabs. But I do like the cabs themselves quite a bit. I bought mine back when they were priced nicely and swapped out the drivers for speakers that met my finally needs a lot better. Sold the stock speakers as practically new which offset the cost quite a bit. Ended up with cabs loaded with drivers of my choice quite reasonably priced. It really worked out well for me in the end. I say go for it directly and get what truly makes you happy JT. As an aside, some years ago I just burned through all of the likely candidates until I found what really suited me. It wasn’t cheap and I did have help from a cool guy out of Cedar Park, Tx who had worked for Celestion for quite a few years and, along with some great stories, he and I discussed what I was looking for (he had noticed my Craigslist ads as I burned through various speakers). His advice and input helped a lot. Now I no longer worry about it. It’s a settled matter in my mind and I’m happy.
IR’s based on that experience also suit me well which has simplified things quite a bit on the digital side as well.
Best of luck @JiveTurkey !
