No idea who's guilty here, but in germany Am is the parallel minor of C major, but the english-oriented world calls it "relative" minor instead.
I happen to think of the german naming convention to be at least somewhat more logical.

Some maps are more accurate representations of the actual territory than others are. But no map is
the actual territory it is meant to represent and model.

This is actually describing large portions of musicology (or nomenclature, whatever...) quite well.
