The main reason modellers don’t work for me live (not a rant)

I feel like the majority of foruming right now is sorta like the bit from its always sunny where Charlie is trying to get honey from the wasps in that box contraption and @Digital Igloo being like Dennis saying wtf dude I don't think there is any scientific basis for that hahaha

Modelers have nothing to do with silent stage; your choice of playback system dictates whether your stage is silent or not. Real tube amps can be used on silent stages (with load boxes and IEMs) just like modelers can be used with power amps and wooden cabs.

How many times do I need to link to this blog? And why wouldn't Marketing let me keep my original title (below)?

IT'S THE PLAYBACK SYSTEM, STUPID
You can link to the blog all day long, but in the context of this thread and this guy's posts, it has absolutely zero relevance. Or even being generous, the only relevance it has is to be a repeat of the thing that the OP already acknowledged in the OP and several times since.

Honestly this whole thing is kind of like “I got a job with a uniform but I hate uniforms but I keep going to the job and putting on the uniform but I hate uniforms.” OP wants to rock out, but silent stage pays money, so OP wants money, but hates not rocking out, but keeps going to money even though it doesn’t rock.

I think the problem is the thread title and the actual first post are somewhat incongruous. The post isn't actually about how modelers don't work for him live (even though he said he doesn't really like modelers anyway). I think the thread is more about how he hates silent stages.

I had to go reread the OP. Do you think you play worse because of in-ears and no volume or do you think you play the same and now you can really hear what it sounds like? The first thing we realized when we started using in-ears (we were still using loud-ass amps as well at that time, but wanted to start including some samples and tracks so we needed the click) was that we were not nearly as tight as we thought we were. It was nearly catastrophic for our drummer, lol. Also as a side note, doing the whole IEM dance with mic’s and cabs (8x10 bass fridge, 2x12 + 4x12 stack) was such a fucking hassle.

Cabs & Volume FTW
For me it’s not just the tone, it fundamentally changes how I play guitar if I don’t have that interaction between guitar and cab.

Try a tube preamp with IR, it was the solution for me when I need a quiet stage. I couldn't adapt to modeling either.I use a Friedman IR-D now and it's an acceptable solution for these situations. .

Just wanted to spark a discussion around how the feedback from a cab on stage suits my playing style better, and that’s why I struggle with silent stages.

Never once did I say I wasn’t willing to play silent stage if the gig calls for it.
I also fully and completely understand mic’d up tone, going direct, playback system matter, etc.

Feel like everyone half-scanned through my post and projected their own shit onto the replies.
