A love letter to the Eleven Rack

I really liked the UI of the 11 Rack...it was simple enough that a few knobs and buttons worked for just about everything. Sonically it was pretty decent but limited by the lack of IR's. I think something like an IR loader with the 11 Rack would be solid, but at that point how far away is it from a Headrush?

That is true - with modern IRs would sound even better.

I loved 11Rack back in the day - great guitar tones. Still great guitar tones and you could do a record with one easily - just can't match modern modelers for accuracy.

I don't really disagree.

But this is where I can really appreciate the "feel" of a piece of gear. I know it's not the most accurate, the way some models distort, sure... But I feel like I'm always in control. It just reacts, every nuance matters. The 11R always reminds me that the non stop tinkering is to bring this back, it's not about trying to get a certain sound really, but to make the model react the way I want. The 11R for me just works in this aspect and for the first time in a while I could sit all morning playing without the need to touch any setting. This is the sign for me of a really great piece of gear, it just stays out of the way.

The 11R was the coolest looking piece of gear I've ever owned by far. Too bad I didn't think the amp modeling was any better than free plugins at the time.

I had one back in the day, but never liked the feel. Don't know how to describe it other than saying it was very stiff. Cool for the time and the orange faceplate and screen was kind unique. But can't say I miss it.

Its amazing how much wider the gulf between "I want X" and "I'm willing to pay for X" has grown with a lot of this stuff.
