Those look awesome! Do they work well on an electric range?
You know I honestly can not say, I have never lived with an electric range so I have no experience! I would imagine it should be fine though, as long as it gets the heat it needs. Shy of a movie style popper though, on a gas range anyway, I like these better than all other solutions I have ever tried!! Give it a whirl!!!

I have been using the Whirley-pop stovetop popcorn popper ( https://www.whirleypopshop.com/products/whirley-pop-stovetop-popcorn-popper-original-silver-2 ) for 15+ years and love it! Nice small American company and they even sent me a new lid when the gear went bad on my lid.

As for the oil heating, yes, oil needs to be at high temp before you add the corn! And no, I have never burned jiffy pop, probably because I have never tried to make one!

Same here; wife is a popcorn freak

Thanks, Moondog! You are always a great resource for stellar info and intelligence!! :beer

Totally feel ya' fretworn! My girl is BONKERS for the popped corns. For 10 years we would go for movie night (Tuesdays) even if there was a movie we did not necessarily want to see, so she could have her popcorn. Other times, we would stop at the theater and just buy some popped corn to take home. That theater closed due to pandemic and will not be reopening, so we now have an hour drive in each direction to go to the one screen movie theater (old one was 30 minute drive with 4 screens). My popcorn at home is better in some senses (toppings), but without a proper popper, you just can get it like the movie theater stuff. Actually going to see a movie today, so movie corn is in my immediate future!!! Equalizer 3 with Denzel!!!

You are welcome but don't believe everything I say! It can lead to steep cliffs with no ropes or parachutes ;~))

I know this is a food thread, but here is something that I use with my food all the time and consume the output of daily. It is my favorite home appliance EVER! AWG - Atmospheric Water Generator. We have owned one (on our second) since 2010 and I LOVE these things. Ever use a dehumidifier? And then tossed the water out? What if, you were to use stainless steel coils, collect the water and then run it through some filters like reverse osmosic, carbon filters, blue light filters etc. What would you get? The best fucking water EVER! So clean and pure. Now all that said, both companies we have purchased machines from have had trouble staying in business, so that is a problem when it comes to maintenance and fresh filters, but I will continue to try and use one for the rest of my life. Got a damp basement, put the machine down there. Lower the humidity and generate pure drinking water at the same time.

Not exactly a food pr0n shot, but at least some sort of contrast to all the meaty madness in this thread, just had this:
Pita.jpg

Pseudo-kebap thing from plain soy stuff (pretty much looks like gyros meat when fried), fried together with some zucchini, spiced up with kofta spices, salad /w onions, red cabbage and cucumbers (olive oil, lemon, thyme dressing), zaziki. Rolled into some kinda pita bread (left over pizza dough fried in a pan).
Extremely delicious, has gotten all you need; crunchy, soft, chewy, warm, fresh, it's all there. Pretty healthy, too (vitamins intact, garlic, cabbage, plenty of protein from the soy, etc.).

I just made something I wouldn't normally do, and it was delicious- grilled bacon & swiss sandwich, with a big thick slice of tomato and lots of black pepper. Wish I had enough bacon; I'd've made 2!

That’s too funny… I just shoved a whole sheet of thick pepper bacon into the oven because I made biscuits (and gravy) this morning, and now I want bacon and egg sandwiches

Just got into using Nutritional Yeast on Popcorn. Little Butter to make it stick.

Fucking nootch, as the vegans call it. If feet could vomit, dehydrate the vomit and scrape it up to sell, they could sell it as nootch. My ex put that shit on everything.

For popcorn I always just google a recipe for kettlecorn because I forget the oil/sugar ratio.
