The exact gigging product I want does not exist.

Man, I need a nap, and I am not even you.

This all sounds like jumping through a lot of hoops and a modeler into a half-decent poweramp would be a much more practical way to go about it, even if it means some compromise.

. . . what I'm going to say:

If there was a keyboard player in our neck of the woods; absolutely!

Hoops; jesus christ yes. More practical way with a poweramp would be great if I want to go back to disappearing in the mix against the rest of the band using analog equipment. The minute I stepped into Boogie land in the bandmix; it was over. Not even close. I realize this sounds Gasp af as I type it :rofl

Lol, "hey, what are your pronouns?"

"Gasp AF"

I think the FM9 would have gotten the best of me, in your situation. You know me, I'm all EFF modelers, for the same reasons you now are, BUT, having that second "instrument" in the mix, and dealing with what you are dealing with now, would have made me just throw my hands up in the air, and say, EFF it.

It's weird, the guy that does it around here, all I ever see is just his little analog pedalboard, little Fender amp, and a synth of some sort, (I can't remember which one), on the floor.

I think he just runs it all through the Fender, and doesn't worry about an "FRFR" signal. And this dude is piano, synth, horns, you name it.

Or, he runs the synth signal through the PA, and I just didn't notice that.

I get it. Personally I’ve never had that problem of digital disappearing in the mix, but tube amps do sit differently, especially if you’re monitoring from the sound of the amp itself rather than all IEM.

There’s still something special about a tube amp, it’s just a question for each of us individually if that “something” is worth it

For me; it became either too quiet or too gratingly loud compared to the other guitarist (especially). And never blending in with his tone in a pleasing way? I don't run IEMs but I suspect I might not be a good candidate for that :nails:rofl

Still going to end up with one of those St. James things. Even if it's for a gig then return it situation :whistle

I'd guess "yes" to the synth signal running through the PA.

I'm bored and trying to play catch-up on this thread. Not quite following. What's the 20 words or less "elevator pitch" version of the problem? Too much latency on the IR-treated direct out from your Boogie... versus which other signal(s)? Which feature of the "St. James thing" are you expecting might improve matters?

So many things. Direct out has latency and phasing issues. using the send from the Stomp to FOH "works" but it is missing power amp section from the Boogie.

Blackstar direct out sends the ENTIRE signal chain (preamp/fx loop/power amp plus whatever speaker emulation you apply in the device itself) to FOH. It has a DI cabinet (aka no speaker emulation) so I can use my Stomp chain of IR/FX/GR55 and send the whole amp, fx, synth and speaker emulation in the order defined by the Stomp.
