Same. I typically add 1/2 the water, 1:00 “bloom,” add remaining water, 1:00, flip, a slight swirl to release grounds stuck to the plunger, and place on mug, 0:30, press very slowly. Usually yields a very balanced cup.
All of what Norminal said ^^^
For anyone else reading this, the significance of the slow press can't be emphasised enough.
I actually wrap a coffee filter around the plunger of my Bodum when making French press. All of what Norminal said ^^^

embrace the grease and grit!
i love that part of coffee- its part of the reason i love espresso- no filters, no waste, full oil slick!
sounds like low bar (pardon unintended the pun..) espresso.
do you all do moka pots, or am i just a crusty ancient?
I used to use a moka, but I feel I get better and more consistent results with both the Aeropress and Clever Dripper these days.
I still own a Moka, but I don't feel it's worth the time, hassle and variable results.
The moka was just a little hard to get right when I was half awake in the mornings
I’ve drank coffee made from one of those and was very impressed. Keep us posted.Okay I bit the bullet and ordered a Technivorm Moccamaster. I've been eyeing one for years.

Lately my go-to has been Chemex and I usually make about 600ml coffee. But I find the coffee cools down fast, so I have to constantly reheat the coffee. I have a thermos but since the coffee cools so much in the Chemex, it doesn't stay hot. Then if I want to preheat my thermos to take to work, I don't have enough water for coffee so I have to boil twice. Especially if I want a bigger pot of coffee.
So I got the KBTS model which has the thermal carafe. It makes a little smaller pot (1L max) but that's more than I usually brew, plus it's 3" shorter than the regular one. Brewing right into the thermal carafe should keep the coffee hot enough to not need to preheat my mug or thermos if I'm taking it to work. And hopefully keep it hotter for an hour or two to top off my Yeti mugs, rather than pouring the coffee from the Chemex into a ceramic mug, then heating in the microwave, then pouring into my Yeti (SO MANY DISHES).
Still using the Fellow Ode v2 grinder which has been working great. And still using the Hario Switch for single cups.
how is that different from a melitta, save for its electric?
i use one of these things and an electric kettle: https://shoponline.melitta.com/products/1-cup-porcelain-pour-over™-coffeemaker
is there an advantage?

The Dumble of Drip Machines!
I do Pour Over exclusively---as I have mentioned a thousand times in this thread.
I agree the Temp thing is problematic.
Nice!!
I snagged a USB powered Hot Plate to keep my coffee warm(er)(ish).
