Stay Away from This Guy’s Channel

Ok, this will come across as a pretty daft question, but as I've never been following that Synergy stuff, here goes: What's the smallest/cheapest way to "host" this module? Do I really need that SYN-1 Preamp thing?

You can’t plug it into your ass.

I mean, you can, but I don’ think putting a 1/4” cable in the other end is going to get any sound out.

That's bad news as I was full of hope already.

Seriously, that very Deliverance module would be so much up my alley as a baseline recording thing, I really, really dig the sounds in that video. Would possibly just run it through my AMT Pangaea and call it a day.

Yes. A SYN1 and a preamp module.
To fan your GAS a little bit, Salvation Audio makes some amazing preamps that work with the Synergy rack units and their amps.
I have the SYN-1 and the Synergy SLO, Ecstasy and BE-DLX modules as well as 2 Salvation Audio modules: Camerock (Cameron CCV preamp) and the Unnamed (Fortin Meshuggah preamp).
They kick a$$

Well, my interest really only got tickled because of the particular sounds of this particular module. They're absoultely up my alley and I like the analog WYSIWYG approach a lot more than modelers still requiring whatever menu diving, page flipping, editor-mousing and what not. I just need something to cover a lot of tonal ground and this thing here seems to be almost perfect for the things I'm usually after.
But getting this and the SYN-1 would set me short around 1 grand - which is just too much, at least for the time being.

You can grab a used unit and modules - could probably land you around the 500 - 600 USD/EUR mark.

Yeah the rub with Synergy is just finding the right enclosure type (SYN1/2 or Head) and eating that initial enclosure outlay. From there it all becomes a bit more enjoyable in your quest to hell collect them all. :ROFLMAO:

Yes, my guess is the phase inverter is in the SYN-1?
There is no phase inverter associated with the preamp host/modules. The host (Syn1/2) includes a 12ax7, 1/2 of which is the input stage, the other 1/2 of which handles the buffered thru when the synergy unit is bypassed.

Each module includes an additional 2 preamp tubes.

@Sascha Franck you CAN run the Synergy modules in the older Randall dock units, though in that instance you have to choose which channel is running, as the Randall stuff doesn't handle channel switching.

Nice. I always wondered how that worked - haven't found much documentation on how the tubes in the SYN-1 / 2 were used.

At this point, I'd even take an "FM-short that can fit on a shelf in 2U worth of space". The FM3 is JUUUUUUST tall enough to fail at fitting under the Syn2 even if I take the handles off it.
The guy who owned my FM3 must have had it apart then broke one of the screw heads off the chassis when he had it dismantled.

:oops::(:mad:

Handlebars remain because I'm not drilling out that screw.

Iirc they should work in the original version the Egnator modular thing. And thus they’d also work in the old Randall version.

I've see the Salvation Audio stuff before, you have to send them a Synergy module for them to mod right?

Synergy was a road I never went down but probably should. Would really dig a tabletop base for their modules for reamping. I have a bunch of pedals already for this and of course amps, but the synergy stuff really seems made for this.

Yes, you can but they can also build modules for you without sending a "donor" one in.
