Since the Friedman Plex came out I’ve wondered how well it compares to a Helios. I have a Helios 100 and using the Plex input it sounds pretty marvelous. Comparing it to the 1987x and it makes me really appreciate what Bogner has done with the Helios. The Helios has a switch that can totally bypass the EQ and I haven’t really used that or the Plex input previously because I’ve been mainly on the Hot input and 70s and 80s modes for higher gain tones.
Ever since picking up a 1987x around Easter time, I’ve been getting into the lower gain Marshall sounds and for the past few days I’ve been screwing around with the Helios Plex input and setting the EQ switch on 11 (bypassing the EQ). It’s awesome. The Helios can do so much! What a great amp.

Krampe Amps & Sounds
YT clips by Olaf Krampe. Mostly about tube guitar amps and guitars. Although I do build my own guitar amps, you will also find vids with established brands like Diezel, Soldano, Marshall, Friedman or THC. Amps are just my hobby . . . Enjoy. Olaf
