Any cool resources out there for copping Randy's tones on the first two Ozzy albums? I know the basics. Marshall
Superleads and JBL-loaded Cabs. Just curious if anyone has come across any cool tutorials on aiming for Randy's
tone. And yes, I know a lot of people thought his tone sucked. Whatever. :LOL:

I am specifically curious about his use of the MXR Distortion + and an MXR 10 Band EQ he ran in front of the
Marshalls.

Also, wondering about Pitch Detune and/or a Doubler, since he triple-tracked the guitars in the studio according
to Max Norman.

Any help, or resources to share is greatly appreciated. :beer

Always loved Randy growing up. Learned a lot of the Ozzy tunes as a young pup, and am now playing with a
Drummer who can Tommy Aldridge/Lee Kerslake the fuck out of a kit and we are revisiting that material. :banana

I'll give you this. I used a Distortion + a number of times when I was young and pretty much wanted to jump off a cliff :oops:

My favorite Ozzy guitar tones are on the Ultimate Sin.

Another tidbit from the Norman article was his nickname for Randy's pedaboard. He called it the Electric Fry-Pan cause of the super loud sizzle every time Randy stopped playing. Said he had to stay right on top of the faders during his takes. :ROFLMAO:

You're not going to nail it with any chorus and/or delay effect. Think I may have read the same Max Norman article as you. The triple tracking was so key to how those records sounded - especially with headphones on.

Why not go for his tones on the Tribute album?

It's just something fun to mess with. :beer

I always thought those Ozzy albums could have been mixed much better. I blame that on any Randy tone issues. :grin
