I agree. I think integrated digital stuff in tube gear never ages well. I’m not really sure how we’ve not learned this lesson. The average life span of tube gear is far beyond that of your typical digital technology. Is IR here to stay? Or will another speaker emulation tech come along? If so, building IR loaders into preamps seems like a bad idea.
Yes, because a tube amp is already "obsolete" technology. You don't need to replace it like a computer. That's why I dislike all this onboard shit. Right now, IR's are great! It'll sound amazing. But in 10 years (when that USB-B connection on your Badlander is becoming a problem because you can't find conversion cables), they'll have a reactive load coupled with a new technology that tickles your nuts with its realism. Agreed. I’ve had great success with Mesa’s slave outs into outboard IR devices. Their cab clone stuff is awful. If you like how it sounds now, then that will work just fine as long as the tech doesn't fail. It's not like you can't disable the IR functionality and use that stuff as a line out.
That said, I'd rather pay less for an amp with only a line out vs built in IR functionality.
Soooooooooo bad!! Remember the glowing praise Andertons video on it??? Absolute cringe!!!Their cab clone stuff is awful.

There are two distinctly different CabClones. The original, resistive load and analog filter cab sim, and then the later one that's reactive, and IR's. The latter is WAY better than the original, but still not as good as a Suhr RL, IMO.I've heard Mesa's Cab Clone tech only sounds right if you're using a real speaker at the same time. If you take the speaker out of the equation it sounds terrible.

Nah, not for me. If I didn't have a Mark V now, I'd want a Mark VII.So is this an instant-purchase for any of you?

Holy Output Transformer, Batman!
