Potential Mesa Reissues? IIC+ and Dual Rec

No breakup for me, maybe its a purple stripe thing as they say its the most mellow one

That said my settings are -marginally- different than @Desertdweller

These clean tones are still superior to any of the dozens of amps I’ve owned over the years including blackface fender imo. Could be a pickup thing too though, 99% of the time when I’m doing cleans it’s a coil tapped middle position on a dual humbucker guitar. I don’t really care for the clean tones of a full bore humbucker regardless of amp or settings. If I were to switch to a bridge humbucker with no tapping yeah there’s some grit but there’s not a real world situation I’d be doing that unless I wanted some grit on a somewhat clean lead

Everyone loves a good A/B test!!!

Hahahahha, both sound great to me. When it comes to the full mixes sometimes I prefer A and sometimes I prefer B. The kind of detail that’ll be nitpicked with a reissue like this are negligible to me, it’s the same detail that gets fucked with in a mix anyway. If the main tone/feel of an amp is there, I could barely give a shit that there’s 1.5dB of 3.5kHz more on one amp or the other.

Some tones are a wash, some preferred one over the other, but so minor it's an EQ tweak. I think the reissue is fine. I wouldn't buy one, it's too 1.5 trick pony for me, but I can see the appeal.
I have GAS now for a Mark VII with a wicker grille though, after seeing his OG IIC+

EDIT

PS his LP Studio is sexy time.

I’m pretty much just salivating over any Mark at this point.

I owned an original Mark 2C+ combo from ~2001-2005 - I remember it had the graphic eq.

I don't care for chugs/Metallica tones at all - bought it for the lead tones. It had the Black Shadow speaker in it I think. I remember tweaking it a LOT during those years - some days I thought it was great...many days I would wonder why it sounded just average.

TBH, I never got the chance to really open it up because I was in a rooming situation then. I now feel that it would have sounded better with some of the cabs that I have now. Sold for around $1550-$1650....somewhere in there. Seeing all this fuss makes me feel like I shouldn't have sold it - but I had to change states and the thing weighed a ton so I sold it.

The vomit reaction is for how I feel, seeing you sold it for that cheap. :D

I have a history of this unfortunately. I sold a Mint condition PRS DGT for something like $1750 in 2018. Most of the used ones in Excellent condition are going for like $2900 on Reverb.

According to Google that is $2,191 now, for a little consolation.

Don’t feel bad dude. I traded away a Gibson Firebird V for a MusicMan Silhouette and a Digitech RP2000. I’ll never live it down.

I feel pretty foolish for selling my Tru Tron 3x based on what they’ve been going for for a while now

Ironically I still made a small profit compared to what they cost new. I’m more sad i just don’t have the pedal anymore rather than regrets about cashing out at a higher price, but the micro tron IV is like 95%+ of the way there and doesn’t have a ridiculous size or weird power requirement

Good example of all the various tone a Mark series amp can get. Not *exactly* a IIC+ but it still kind of is in spirit as the top preamp is supposed to be IIC+ based (?).

The Studio and Quad Preamps are absolutely beastly.
