Potential Mesa Reissues? IIC+ and Dual Rec

I guess not necessarily “makes everything sound the same” so much as “makes everything sound awesome”

There’s certain pieces of gear I’ve owned myself and put the time in with that I know I hate and he’s still made sound killer

If anyone has examples of something just simply sounding bad in Olas hands I would love to see those vids, as I have yet to encounter them

the vid of the Iconic EL34 he put out the other day, which i have seen in many places be praised as this great amp, sounds horrific lol

I like the driven sounds in the old man vid but once they add the GEQ; I really don't like what it does. It's like you need to do one or the other :sofa

Edited for those were the "metal" tones in this vid. Yikes

Doug rockin' that buttcut.
Doug seems like he’d be cool guy to grab a couple beers with.

Notice how it instantly sounds better at 10:30 or so into the video when he switches from the EVH cab to the Mesa cab. I get this so much. I have an EVH 2x12 and I hated the stock speakers. I put UK V30s in it and it's amazing now.

The metal stuff at the end sound terrible, again. They really need to ban the guitar player from promo vids and not let Doug touch the EQ controls during "chug" demonstrations.
It's a video to explain and demonstrate the different controls on the amp so I think adjusting the GEQ so you can hear what each slider does is totally fine. I wish they had shown it with the less gainy tones as a well.

To me the other tones before they used the GEQ sounded fine, like not blowing my socks off but totally fine.

For metal tones, just watch Ola's video, or various other videos that will follow showcasing that one thing, with largely the same settings.

didn't think the EVH sounded that bad there, in the mix it had a certain vibe. He dialled it a bit weird after that but it honestly sounded better than I thought it would and did something reasonably cool.

Its a sign they got the IIC+ reissue right if you can dial it to sound like shit, so its reassuring to see its down to how you set it up.

In the Ola video, looks like the volume/gain is over 9 as is the treble.

So, the amp doesn't oscillate like in the non-pro YTer videos?

Yeah, I dug the Iconic in the full mix clip but everything after, until plugging into the Mesa cab, sounded like ass.

In Ola's video, the amp really chugs.

Also, the volume/gain and treble are both above 9 from what I can make out.

So does that mean it does not oscillate?

Well I'd bet the amp would be making some noise if he did something obtuse like putting the "lead master" on 8 like the original squealgate video. But he didn't, because theres no rational or beneficial reason to do that :rofl

He doesn’t have the Lead Gain all the way up like they did. Yeah if you turn up all 3 of the gain stages it’s going to be a little noisy :rofl

Danny Carey, Doug West, Will Ferrell, and Chad Smith walk into a bar........

No. If you don't dial the amp in like a fucking idiot, it doesn't oscillate.
Jesus Christ on a pogo stick why did it take so long for someone to do this? Literally 1 minute to set it up exactly like we’ve been bitching about and boom - incredible metal tones immediately.

That thing sounds GREAT.
Uh, 59 seconds, sir. :D

Lead drive is at/past 9, as is the treble and lead volume/gain. Those are pretty high settings.

I checked some videos of people who had issues as well. These settings would have caused their amps to oscillate.

Lead master is a volume control that allows you to balance between the clean and lead channels. Nothing more.

Lead drive is up there though.
