This Live IR from the core files is so incredibly good.
Can anyone tell me what exactly is behind it? So which micros and positions and what has been changed in terms of voicing

I wonder if this has anything to do with piracy? It’s disgustingly easy to upload IR files. They are honestly everywhere.

Is that the official reason? I went to OH website but didn’t see anything about the discontinuation.
Kevin has said that he will be moving over to software plugins. I think the plan is probably to replace the older stuff with some sort of plugin format. Hopefully it will be released soon.

So he's giving up on anything useful for hardware modelers/ir loaders?

Do plugins meet the need for live use for most people (besides the subset that are using a laptop as a mission critical part of their rigs).

Not so much

I can only assume it'll be like the GGD / Mikko2 approach where you can dial in your IR in their plugin and then export it (or just blindly export a bunch of presets if thats the way you want to go).

I guess if you were really anti DAW/plugin inclined then its more of a pain to do it this way than to dump a batch of IRs on your device and endlessly scroll through them directly on board (I get it).

Something like CabLab goes the extra step of not being modeller/ir loader friendly by not allowing IR export, so you'd have to do some extra steps to get IRs out of there. The reality is noone can be bothered so Im sure CabLab stuff is only used by Fractal owners or plugin enthusiasts (I'm sure that was their intention).

As long as you can easily export stuff from whatever Ownhammer is working on then its totally useful for all modellers/everything, but if its locked down then that would be.... "interesting"....

He hasn't really revealed much about how it will work. I'm really hoping there will be a way to export to wav files, otherwise it will really only be useful for recording and will limit the user base quite a bit.

Do you actually use high and low cuts for live playing with the ownhammer Essentials packs? I have the feeling that I don't need them at all, especially with the file named "live".
Or should you set the high cut at 12000 as a precaution?

I haven't felt the need to use any cuts with the newer Ownhammer stuff. They seem to be quite mix ready to me. I don't play live, however so I can't really give a recommendation on that. It's really a personal preference. I would say try it out without any cuts to start, especially if you're not feeling the need for them.

When looking at the original topic for the thread, it seems that they still haven't pulled any of the older wav files and there hasn't been any updates on the software that was mentioned. I'm guessing it got delayed, but it would be nice to get some info about it.

I have a major concert with a symphony orchestra coming up and would like to be sure.
Unfortunately, I don't have a gig beforehand to test the Fletscher Munson effect.

I certainly hope so. Would love to see more players in this space, and OwnHammer IRs are nice.

Just copy that Export IR button from MIKKO 2 instead of faffing around. There's no way I'll buy a cab sim that works only as a plugin.

The newer OH packs I have are the Classic Rock, EVH, and the greenback from the Rockbox. I just tested a few examples of all of them and ran an RTA block after everything. There's really not a lot of high end content up there. They all have a pretty smooth roll off after 5-6k. Adding cuts of 10-12k really only made a subtle difference to me. If you're going to be playing with an orchestra, you'll probably need to cut through the mix even more since you'll have to compete with lots of other instruments. Will someone be running live sound? If so, they'll likely be eqing you anyway regardless of what you do in your preset. You might have to just have something setup that you can adjust if there will be some sort of sound check beforehand. Someone with more live experience might be able to give some other advice though.

Yeah the newer OH stuff has more aggressive cuts built in already.

Despite the warnings from last year or whatever, I think I can still access and download my old files.

Funny timing, I think I spoke to 2-3 people in the last week who were wondering what's going on with OH... anyone got any clues with what's coming?
