Ones that got away - amp edition

Elmwood Modena M-60.........mostly just for nostalgia....

I sometimes miss the Victory VC35 I had. I sold it because I felt I would not get to use it regularly enough for several years, and thought that maybe Victory will make a new model with an IR loader built in. But that has not happened.

Never sold any. I did "lose" my first amp at some point (borrowed it to some pothead, total classic), but it was a cheap AF 10W Samick that sounded like crap, so no regrets whatsoever.

The only thing that comes to mind is me not buying a used Beta Lead for about 150€ when I could. I still bite my own ass about it, to this day...

I have been slowly re-buying the ones that got away. I'm currently on the hunt for an early 70s DR-504. There were two of them on Reverb about a month ago, but I was waiting to buy one until I was sure that we were still on budget for a big house project. Project finishes, I go to buy one of the amps, and poof! both are gone.

I've never had an amp worth worrying about. I did like the Fender Bassbreaker 15 combo I had but it had really bad ground loop hum in the effects loop. And it would be fun to play through my old Marshall Valvestate VS100 half stack again. I'd be curious what the amp sounded like on a proper 4x12 cab.

I kinda miss my Mesa Mark III 60W red stripe. It's a specific sound and I'd never pay what they're going for nowadays. Got it for $700 nearly 7 years ago.

Same goes for the chrome chassis Dual Recto Rev F rackmount. Only paid $1100 more than 12 years ago. Wouldn't pony up the $4k or whatever they sell for now.

My most stupid amp sale ever: A Marshall JVM410HJS that I bought in perfect condition and at a very good price. I have no idea how I could have been so stupid as to sell it. I regretted it almost the moment the amp left my house.
My second dumbest amp sale was an absolutely superb sounding Engl Powerball II, which I sold because I thought the "Angl Meteor" model in Helix Native sounded almost as good. Well, at some point I wanted another Powerball, but the amp I got didn't sound nearly as good as the first one and had a few problems with the bias control.
Fuck.

Fuchs tds 100 or 50

Had the 50 first. Sold it. Missed it. Bought the 100. Sold it like a dumbass. This was all pre kids when I had disposable income lol.

They are both awesome. I'd love to have either one. Beautiful cleans and break up.

I had a 1950s tweed Fender Deluxe beater that just became mine when I joined my first band in 1973. I used it for a year or 2 and then bought a blackface Bassman head and cabinet from my neighbor for $150. Who needs 2 amps? I sold the Deluxe for $75. A couple years later I sold the Bassman rig to a friend for $125 when our band split up after high school graduation. The guy who bought the Deluxe is dead, no telling where that amp ended up.
