Fast, Tight, Dry Amps, What You Got?

In a Pitbull/Ultralead series amp when you switch on Edge, it should add a little upper mids and treble, and start to compress a little more in these frequency bands. But it stays tight in bass and low mids. There's also more harmonic content because of this.
Basically a Deliverance is a Pitbull/Ultralead series amp that has that Edge switch always on (albeit on a different corner frequency, ...and a few more different details). This is why people often say, the Deliverance is less dry than the Pittbull series of amps.
All this is based on reading schematics floating around the web. I built a Deliverance clone and overly love it, but I have never played a real Pittbull/Ultralead series amp. I once tried that clone without that Edge feature, and this is what I found.

My pittbull CL/50 was def supa dry :idk

Sig X could be dialed to be dry or more saturated

never played a deliverance I dont think

Well I think it ("dryness") depends on wht you compare it to, and what you and others actually mean by "dry".
The CL 50 also has that Edge switch, and I assume it does similar things, but just can't say for 100% sure.
As far as I can tell/remember, from the schem of the SIG:X, it is VERY close two Deliverance channel strips, plus a cleaner Deli-channel with all sound options of the Pitbull series switchable, and then some.

So far, every "modern-ish" higain amp I know, to me gets squishy in bass and low mids quite fast, and are not as impactful/punchy/immediate under the right hand, as compared to the Deli clone.
I don't have experience with those newer brands/amps from KSR, Revv, or even Lichtlaerm, and whatnot, so I'm talking SLO based circuits like the SLO itself, Rectos, 5150/6505, PRS MT-15. I'm having a hard time with these amps dialing in a tight tone even with PAF-ish humbuckers and gain way under the 12 o clock mark. They ALWAYS have way too much gain for my needs.
Even with ENGLs I'm missing the impact/immediate-ness of the Deli. But one will have a hard time dialing in a squishy "un-tight" sound with most ENGLs :giggle:

Brushing up on a little Manual reading.

Also, I’ve never played an amp that is as touch responsive as my 50/CL was…

I’ve probably relayed this antecodte a billion times but in my old band… the other guitar player plugged into my “brutal high gain setting” and it basically sounded clean with the way he played. He was baffled. Cl50 is the epitome of touch sensitivity and technique reaction :love

I tapped out on VHT/Fryette, and then this fell right into my lap and I couldn't pass it up.

It's the Amp I was most eager to own and try all along. It's fucking glorious. What a brilliant
design. Two distinct channels both capable of everything from Clean to Mean. I am blown
away.

Reminds me of other amps like that I have loved... like a Mesa Fillmore 50, and the Orange AD30.

Been a great week for amps here at TGF!! Amp Gods are throwing the Manna left and right! :banana

Switchable Rectifier like the Mark V. Class A or Class A/B like the Mark V. Responsiveness
like a Plexi. :banana

As much as the other gear I tried from Fryette/VHT was not "IT," for me, this is IT! :chef

Cl50 basically in second place for me to marks for GOAT

Really the only remaining amp I “need” back in my collection

I can totally see why. Er, hear and feel why. :rofl

I couldn't get what I wanted out of other Pitbulls or the Deliverance. But within
15 minutes of playing the CL50 I was like, "Well, there it is!" :chef

I am so glad I didn't give up on the chase too soon. If we are not looking constantly
we ain't ever gonna found it, are we?? :beer

The 50/CL is its own animal. I had a 100/CL expecting it to be just a louder 50/CL as it had the same two channels and it wasn’t. The 50 was a sweeter sounding amp. That and the Deliverance 60 were my favorites. Should try to track down a Sig X one day. Or just grab another D60.
