I've had locking or rolling locking tonneau covers on most pickups.Yeah that dude in the pic is just lazy. I got a locking tonneau cover on my 2004 F150 for when I'm hauling amps and P.A. equipment, speakers etc. I don't haul no drums though. The drummer can take care of his own shit.
Anyways the tonneau cover has folding accordion sections and I can flip open one or all of the sections and/or tailgate if I'm hauling something longer like wood or pipe. Lots of tie-downs in the bed, and I carry red rags to put on anything that hangs out beyond the tailgate.
