NDSP Quad Cortex

Just tested it out into the return of my invective MH, and I'm very impressed (and love that I have resonance and presence control in front of me now). This might be my favorite sound that I've found so far with the QC - but we'll see how my ears feel tomorrow lmao
Yeah…I don’t think I’ll ever go back to full profiles as long as I play cabs. “True amp experience” and since most powersections/returns are in the same zone…easy to have “ your sound” from any half decent amp with an efx loop.
Combining it with a cabsimmed sound is a bit of a hassle though…poweramp captures sum to mono…so either accept that…or “fake” a poweramp with en EQ block.

If you are into the dumble thing..defenitly check the preamps I posted on the previous page.

...they appear to need all of their people laser-focused just to stick to the already lax schedule of plugin "conversions"...

I sat down to see what the spring reverb complaints were about. At default settings it was not good. The "boing" was cranked way up and it sounded pretty bad. I lowered it a lot and made some other adjustments and thought, yeah it's not very adjustable but it sounds like a spring reverb. So yeah it is definitely basic and it only has one option for a spring but it was fine. Then again I'm not a spring reverb connoisseur so 🤷🏾‍♂️

I definitely agree the effects I tried are pretty basic. But that doesn't translate to "bad". It's like comparing a DD-3 to the Fractal delay block and saying the DD-3 is basic or bad. I mean I'd understand that in a way but that doesn't really make the DD-3 sound bad. That's a good delay. Similarly the effects in the QC, while certainly lacking (by far) the choices and depth of Fractal, haven't sounded bad to me. I'm not a/b'ing them with the ones in VP4. I'm just loading them up and seeing if I enjoy the sounds.

I haven't fully explored them though and need to check out more. Especially the mods like chorus and flanger.
Agree with all of this except for the spring sounding like a spring.

P.S. What the hell is "boing", anyway?

Looks like Neural modeled "boing" when they should have modeled "boiiinnng!" for authentic spring TOAN. Maybe fractal audio can tell us what it means?

I'm sitting in front of my QC right now, spinning that knob back and forth. Sometimes I nearly convince myself it's having an effect on a modulation rate or something, but mostly I think it's a placebo knob.

I was in a GC recently with an updated TMP on the floor for demoing and it's......better?!?

Was kinda impressed if I'm being honest. Maybe it was them getting the impedance curves sorted out a couple of updates ago, but yeah.....

Yeah they have been actively updating it which is a nice surprise

About 5 months ago someone was posting the board they built for the Spiritbox dude, he was using Fractal then. Also saw someone upload a crazy ring modulator preset a couple months ago that Spiritbox dude worked into their live set.

Found the board vid-

I've heard a lot of the early artists received free units in exchange for promoting them in their rigs, but many of them quickly jumped over to other gear. Probably back to Fractal lol. Mike and Aaron Marshall first ones coming to mind.

It's interesting that almost nobody uses the Fender TMP. We've seen artist demos and some playing around with it, but nobody tours with it. QC at least has some touring adoption. Fractal, Kemper, and Line 6 have been mainstays for a while.
