Namm 2025 predictions

Looks like;
1. (0/Tight) bright cap switch?
2. (I/II) Volume or Gain mod?
3. Mid-Shift?

New Marshall Amps are on Sweetwater's website for Pre-Order

Modded 1959 with MV & Switchable Brightcap and Modded JCM800 with midrange cut, boost, and tight Eq switches

I'm guessing those Marshall amps are way more expensive in the US than in Europe? Kinda the opposite of how Mesa has been? If I was shopping in those prices I'd absolutely take a Friedman over those.

For sure, same as Friedman or Suhr is rather expensive in Europe. I still expect the EU modded Marshall prices are a bit crap for what you get.

But if we ignore price, to me those mods are pretty weak stuff. If I were to get a factory modded Marshall, I'd like to see it executed a bit better than replacing one of the jacks with a pot, and having a basic on/off toggle for a bright cap instead of e.g a 3-way like on the Friedman Plex. Apart from having proper labeling, this is like "a few hours of bench time with a competent tech" level mods and a good chunk higher cost.

That’s a lot of moolah 💰 for a tight switch , scoop and boost

Ha blimey, a bit disappointing with those mods.

For $1200, Friedman/Gower etc at least add another channel or 2 (even if it’s a basic clean channel), and a better FX loop and usually some of the switching can be footswitchable. Not even any extra valves added on either amp which would have been a bit more fun.

Presumably they’re a take on a typical Jose mod for the 1959 and JEL for 2203.

Hopefully these aren’t just sold as is, but something that can be customised. If they’re offering a mod service I might take an amp in to Dave and let him run riot.

Bullet dodged for me on those pedals.

It's not like every pedal manufacturer doesnt make a MIAB these days

The only one I would be remotely interested in would be the 1959 to make my DSL100H into a poor man's Plexi on the clean channel, but I do have an Electro-Harmonix Glove OD on the way to see if it works like I want it to. For twice the cost of other pedals that do the same thing, Marshall's better shoot out Unicorn Sparkle Farts
