Line6 POD Express Black

When I watched this last night, JNC mentioned that Igor Stolarski was a great sound guy but didnt care for him as a person. Was this an inside joke or is there some drama I missed out on along the way? Anyone have the scoop?

Overall this thing covers a lot of ground and I like it, but since I have a Stomp XL, I don't think I would be a buyer. I do agree that every buyer of the guitar-starter-kit-in-a-box should get one of these.

File this (the red version), under: things I do not need but gonna buy anyway.

Battery powered, with a looper? PERFECT for my “during the day” 10 minute practice breaks while “working” at home.

Like, the implementation is so good, I want to build a small pedalboard around it, and I don’t even need one.

Watched and interview yesterday with Anthony from
Line6 , who basically said the black is the Metallurgy plug in put in a box or as close as they could get to it , they wanted the Vitriol but it just was too much of a CPU hog, otherwise it would be there , they took the other 3 from that pack and he mentioned if you kind of want to do the 5150 / invective thing the Archon w a boost into the Marshall cab with kind of get you there

All three are on sale now for $129. Red, Black and Bass. That’s an incredible price for a passable backup rig that fits in your gig bag. Plus a sweet headphone travel companion when needed. Bought the Red and Black. An administrative error led to me getting both for $129.

Thinking hard about the bass unit. I’m not a bass player but I have a bass and this would be nice for writing/recording bass parts to go along with my efforts in the home studio. Anybody care to join in on opinions about the Bass or Black version?

I think using these along with a One pedal could be neat. Perhaps using it for high quality delays, reverbs or a compressor. The Pod Express and One are my only Line 6 products. I’ve tried L6 before but they never gelled with me. The PE does however.

The editor is just fantastic and I run it on my iPad. Very handy to get your presets tweaked. I do wish I could find definitions for all of the advanced amp parameters. Most are obvious but, to me anyway, I’d like to know more about “ripple” “hum” “bias excursion” etc. If anyone has a link that would be sweet and appreciated!

What a whole lot of bang for $129. I’d pay $199 for these if they had metal enclosures and an aux-in or Bluetooth editing/music playback.
Good job Line 6… you finally got some of my money. Now, put that level of editing in the Yamaha THR-III along with user loadable IR’s and put out a metal pedal version with full BT, Aux-in, headphone out and effects loop. Pretty please. The old MagicStomp is long overdue for a refresh with modern modeling.

After giving both the Red and Black versions a spin, I think both are pretty great especially at the price and now with the editor available, but if I had to choose one it would be the Black one. I think they learned a few things after releasing the Red and incorporated/tweaked the second iteration a bit. To me anyway…

It would be cool if we could do some amp swapping between units. The Red has a great mix of amps but I wouldn’t mind having the Badonk in place of the 5150. Black has some nice amps but I wouldn’t want to give up the Friedman.

Nope. POD Express | Black was already in the works when POD Express | Guitar was released; we held off on it in case the first two didn't fly.

The only functional difference is that Black's noise gate appears later in the signal flow, which was the plan all along.

Perhaps it’s just my preference then. Black still would be my keeper any day. The design difference is much appreciated.
