Line 6 POD Express

I think you’re kidding, but there have been plenty of battery powered “Rockman killers”, like the Korg Pandora’s Box, for example.
Actually, this might be my Pandora PX2 killer (finally)

I wish one of the demo vids showed playing along with tracks using an iPhone. That's the make or break feature I need to see before buying.

Also what is the ETA for the editor?

Any roundtrip numbers for the USB interface? I know it depends on the computer/OS.

Doesn't depend too much on the OS. Unless companies using generic drivers, latencies typically are very similar under Windows and macOS.

I assume it's not silly slow like some products?

You mean like the other HX family products? I wouldn't expect this to be worse (let's be honest here, but that's hardly possible), but I wouldn't expect it to be better for the same reason(s). Audio interface drivers simply aren't Line 6's forte, to put it carefully.

Well done Line6 (@Digital Igloo). Looks like an awesome “pod” product clearly and obviously designed for an specific user base with the bonus that the freaks, geeks and idiots (yes… us here) may actually see it as a practical and fun option within the line of already great products. Thumbs up from me. This should have happened waaay back imho, and take that as my opinion please. I’ll take the opportunity to be snarky and make a pun: that I still think the Go should have been called HX Go or Helix Go. But it is what it is, written in stone and I can’t change that, but it’s how I still feel… because to me it’s very much a Helix more so than a “Pod”.

Pod Express
From a homeplayer and minimalist pow like me I could actually see myself using this on a daily basis as an option to the more advanced things that I don’t really need or want anymore. That’s always been a “problem” for me. Stomp is still the best guitar pedal out there, imho. But I don’t really need it. I always want it though :rofl
I might actually slowly start to come back into enjoying gear with something like the Pod Express… maybe. I think it’s a great alternative to the the super straightforward Boss IR-2 (wich imho is a great product).

I could probably rtfm but I know my precious time is well respected :sofa
Say you record a loop. Will you be able to change preset with that loop still going without a glitch or hickup or pause?

Also, I assume (without rtfm) this thing also works great to record/reamp which is great value right there.

Again… awesome stuff. And I hate when I get lured back into a forum like this.

Does round trip latency really matter on a modeler+interface? Isn’t the point that you monitor the sound of the modeler when playing, and not what’s coming out of the daw, so you don’t have to deal with the round trip latency? Or does it become an issue with time alignment in the daw or something?

It's an issue if you use a hx stomp as an interface for helix native.

Hey @Digital Igloo,
Does the PGE solve the problem I have on the Stomp where when I try to listen to YouTube from my phone my ears are blasted into oblivion with no ability to turn down the volume on my phone and I have to dig through the global settings to turn it down?

Only if you use software monitoring though, right? Wouldn’t you just monitor the sound of a patch in hx stomp, while also recording the DI for use in helix native when you’re ready to mix?

Not if I want to run a large dual amp patch in native for fun or if I want to play through some neural plugins. The hx stomp was my only interface for a while and sucked for playing in real time with plugins. I had to buy a ssl2 to use instead. My stomp lives on my pedalboard now.

this would be sweet for our bassist for the DI shows

shit i could probably use one at home and leave my LT at our rehearsal spot

bravo L6, these look awesome, great work yet again!

I've not tried it myself yet, but my guess is that you may have to dig through the Global Settings? Will ask.

I know the intention of the cabs in the PGE is to be simple to use for people and for people like myself being able to switch cabs for an amp is headache enough. So I’m one of those that is better off not knowing stuff.

Buuuut. It would still be cool to know what mics and placements they have and some insights to the thought process of making them :grin

That would be a question for @benadrian. I was but a lowly product/UI designer on this project; didn't manage it.

Oops. Just realized it’s Pod Express not Pod Go Express. I guess that makes more sense and hence PE not PGE. And the 13-year-olds who get this thing can have a field day with that.
