Line 6 Helix Stadium

And your eyesight has gone to shit so you can't read scribble strips without bending over and putting readers on.
Actually this is the one thing that made me stop worrying about scribble strips. I cannot read the Helix or Fractal FC-12 scribble strips on stage without wearing my glasses. I have an astigmatism which is quite mild, but with the extra distance, those things essentially just turn into a blur.

Colours are more useful for me as a frame of reference for where I'm at.

Regarding high gain, Line 6 have to demonstrate they can do the same heavily processed modern high gain chuggy tones as NDSP to massively pump up the preorders.

Ignore these crap demos. They're always feckin' crap.
Right.
NDSP approved every video that was uploaded by their advertisers (youtubers) to prevent exactly that.

Someone asked me and I couldn’t remember. Does helix/stadium have SIC options where you can mix and match like fractal? If not do they have SIC baked in when paired with specific cabs that can also be disabled if you use your own IRs?

I can’t remember the fully SIC setup here

IIRC agora amp models and cab blocks talk to each other and automatically apply the correct curve.

Regarding that, I’ve got a preorder in with Andertons in the U.K. (as in I’ve paid a £99 returnable deposit and they will then offer to sell it to me once it’s available and we both know the price - I can go ahead or have my £99 back so it’s a no-brainer imo)

They’re one of the biggest U.K. retailers (afaik) and their website says that the first batch is now sold out. They’re fishing in the wind for a release date (it’s still saying expected October). It’s saying if you preorder now you’ll be in batch two, expected Dec / Jan (which again is fishing).

So it seems their preorder campaign has been really successful with the Brits unless Andertons didn’t order many.

I’m in the weird position where (as I’m in the first batch) I could have one over the next couple of months. Unfortunately I broke my fretting hand little finger badly enough to have surgery a week ago. I’m told by the physio to not pick up guitar with my remaining fingers for quite a while so I might be looking at a lovely shiny thing without being able to use it

I arrived at the summit a few minutes ago. My goodness, it's bigger and more crowded than I expected. I need to acclimatise first. Not easy for an introverted country bumpkin.

However, Helix Stadium looks really great in real life. I hope to spend some time with it later.

Agreed. I’m actually really excited to get it and NOT hook it up to my computer. No need for a computer to update it. No need for a computer editor to dial in sounds. The cab block capabilities will eliminate the need for my IRs.

I know not for everyone. But I’m pretty excited about that.
This has been status quo/ table stakes for me for about 4 years…

:bag

…but I’m thrilled at the idea of having these features and the great variety of HX effects, etc. in one box, along with so many other improvements.

I just had a couple of minutes with Helix Stadium and - as expected - it‘s awesome!

At first, I wasn't sure how much I would like Focus View. But after Eric showed me how to activate it and I played around with it a bit, I was honestly thrilled. No matter which Focus View settings I selected for amps, cabs and effects, everything sounded fantastic and gave a great impression of what each block is capable of. It‘s extremely quick to get great sounds just using Focus View.

I couldn't really judge Agoura because of the headphones, but my first impression was definitely positive.

John Browne played a Stadium during his workshop and he was very enthusiastic about the dynamics.

Conclusion: I want one.
