With all of the processing power available why can’t these just run straight NAM files? I’m assuming Proxy involves some sort of conversion of NAM? If these things could run NAM natively that would a distinct differentiator IMO.

Knowing Line6 I think they totally have something up their sleeve w proxy that will make the competition shake their head

Merely loading NAM files, I don't think is the goal.

Now being able to convert all your QC, Kemper, NAM, ToneX profiles to the Proxy format....

100% I don’t know if it will be allowing you to use QC captures but it will be something unique
If it was a simple Nam player it would have likely been available at launch

Also Based of DI’s complete disdain for following others and in protest naming a sheep icon , I think they must have a better plan than it was just for table stakes
Most captures are static perhaps L6 has found a way to make them respond more dynamically like liquid profiles on steroids

I think a sweet spot would be being able to convert NAM for use, but having their own deal for captures. The problem with NAM is that it’s not straightforward to make captures, and Line 6 is all about usability. NAM is very grassroots/Open Source-ey in its approach.

The even bigger issue with NAM is the processor overhead if not converted for the hardware. IF they have support for NAM, I would expect it to be some form of converting NAM to Proxy in order to run efficiently. I think it would be a very poor choice to dump Proxy and just run NAM native.

After this week’s YouTube showing how many fx can be used at once, DI gave the caveat that Agoura amps take quite a bit more DSP which is understandable. So whilst multiple amps is possible it will of course hit a wall at some point - I’m not clear what that point is yet so ‘is two Agoura at once possible?’. Not an issue for me really as I’m coming from Kemper’s ‘one at a time in series’ and haven’t felt like I’m missing out but I’m still interested in what’s possible.

I know I’m asking about a future here as the Clone software won’t arrive until 2026 so it may be too early to say….. I wonder how much DSP it takes to run a clone vs running an Agoura amp? Bigger or smaller? Does the Stadium have the ability to (for example) run a cloned dirt pedal into an Agoura amp? I am guessing ‘yes’ as otherwise there would be zero point in being able to clone pedals / amps / cabs separately which I think they’ve already said is possible.

I would hope for 2200$ that there is at least 2x the DSP THEN THE OG HELIX?

We don’t know what the actual dsp is compared to the of helix though

I wonder if there’s a reason why line 6 is not at least coming out with what kind of processors and stuff they’re using inside of it if it really is that much better than the helix regular just curious

Given that competitors have sort of swiped L6's ideas/plans when they've discussed things early ahead of release, they are understandably much more tight-lipped about what's coming, and I don't blame them. DI talked about that a little in a post earlier in this very thread, IIRC.

Many of my presets switch between two amp blocks on an A/B path feeding a single cab block. I’m interested to learn more about some of these DSP limits.

It’s just the latest Line 6 video this week where they say ‘in theory you can run 46 blocks’.

After watching that, I asked a question on here regarding ‘does that mean you can run guitar, bass, vocals all at once’. DI replied along the lines that you can but, as Agoura amps are more DSP heavy, there are limits. Sensible to point this out otherwise someone might think you can do 46 of anything all at once but clearly that’s not the case. That’s why I’ve subsequently asked a little more detail if possible and about the size of the clones vs Agoura once we have them.

Ok yeah this is in line with what I’d expect from DI/L6. They tend to under-promise and over-deliver, and that seems consistent with their language on resource limits.

Well, before the recent price drop a new Helix Floor cost $1600. $2200/1600=1.35, so you're only paying for 35% more for all the new features and innovation along with any added DSP. If asked to guess I'd say they'll have 2x the DSP horsepower or more, but what I really care about is that they have enough to do all the cool things they plan and all the cool things that will get dreamed up over the next decade.

I would also think that a Proxy Amp would take a lot less DSP than a regular amp.

Why would we think this? Why wouldn't a Proxy "profile" of an amp be an Agoura amp under the covers that had all of its parameters set by the profiling process?

We've already been hinted that Proxy is machine-learning based - i.e. closer to NAM than what Kemper does.

NAM is open source. Who’s to say Line 6 didn’t just take the source code, and customize it so that it neatly works with the Stadium for the capture process, goes to Line 6 servers for processing, and out comes a chewy capture for the Stadium?
It largely removes the problems with the capture process, making it about as easy as a Kemper, while sounding far better.

Looks like Steve also used the MIT license, so it doesn’t require Line 6 (hypothetically) to submit their changes to the software, only to include the original copyright.

DI has also said they have a great conversations with Steve and like what he is doing , whose to say he is not a sub contract or consultant to proxy , I mean really they could be seeking his tech advice and paying

My apologies if this is known info. The Stadium Floor XL will be my first L6 device.

How will the Stadium support vocals? While this is not top priority for me, I've never been satisfied with how the QC handles it. During gigs my vocalist deals with his own gear. When practicing at my house we run his mic through the QC. It feels jury rigged. For example, if I want an output control to mix his vocals I need to add an EQ block and then use the output from the EQ block. How will the Stadium UI manage this? Will there be any vocals-specific blocks?
