It’s just not necessary anymore. I’m starting to see in myself that it’s merely nostalgia.

You see, back in the day, you could fit more components and better technology in a rack. They sounded better and did more. Now, you can fit a multi effects unit in a pocket calculator sized enclosure.

I’m just thinking that rack mounted effect units are a set of ideas whose time has come and gone.

Well maybe so, I still like to see the equivalent of an Axe-FX III in a single U. A one U tube amp, a power conditioner and 1 U for Air/storage would be pretty handy to me. But I get it, sigh.

Yeah, for my use, the Rack is the way to go. I disagree that the floor unit is "perfect". It isn't for my use. With the floor unit I will still use the polyphonic stuff from the H90 and the same octafuzz I use past 7 years. So with the 16" floorboard, 5" H90 and 2 inch octafuzz Im back to gigaboard, where with the rack unit and all my usual stuff I have; MC6-Pro, exp pedal and a tuner, Im at the fraction of that. I rather do that :)
