Line 6 Helix Stadium

I keep picking up the phone to pre-order, and then deciding to wait. Once these are listed on websites with actual "Add to Cart" buttons, I can start scrounging around for a coupon like the shameless bottom-feeder I am. :D I remember ordering a Helix Floor for $1200 the day it was released. Good times!

People take brand loyalty way too far. It's just a purchase. The defensiveness i am seeing from TMP people is much the same. All kinds of arguments now about how people should like what they have, how liking/wanting more or better means music isn't your priority. It's ok to own something and admit it's being challenged or even beat. It's not a personal failing.

I own an FM9T and a TMP.
I think we are all subject to this to some degree. I've found myself defending plenty of products I like without thinking that I'm a fanboy.

It's when people make the stuff they like part of their personality is when you get the rabid fanboys who believe X brand can do no wrong. People want to belong to something, and if they lack that sort of community in their personal lives, they might latch onto a video game, TV show, modeler etc. Then every criticism is a personal attack on them.

Hardware:
  • I'd prefer more compact, but I'm totally fine with it considering what you get in return. It's much smaller than the Helix and the non-XL is a lot more desk friendly.
  • 8 encoders. Excellent!
I'm trying to convince myself that I'll like this better than my QCs in every way, and maybe eventually (after purging a bunch of other gear, of course) wind up with a Stadium on the desk and a Stadium XL on the floor/ on the go. But yeah, the Stadium doesn't quite achieve the physical portability the QC does. And at the same time, the closely grouped Stadium encoders will probably not feel as good as the wider-spaced "poo switches" on the QC.

Anyone also thinks that the new PC Editor will have a very nice graphical representation of the amps and effects?
Kind of like interactive Metalurgy UI for every model, this would be freaking epic.
I don't think so. I think it will again closely mimic the hardware. I just hope they don't go for the slider approach tho.

Since they clearly have 3D models of the amps though...it's of course possible they go for a front facing 3D model with interactive controls.

The knob spacing doesn't look too bad to me based on the videos. It looks like you can comfortably fit a finger between the knobs.

There's going to be a little bit of "screen -> knobs -> brain" mapping needed because they don't align exactly with the screen controls, but far less than on the QC where the knob/switches are pretty far away and not that well indicated. You grow a muscle memory for those eventually.

I'm sure somehow has more tech answers but if I really want to stem a song I buy it on iTunes and use their software to convert to mp3
Yep I suspect you will be able to just transfer the MP3 from your computer or Phone IOS app eventually straight into stadium and then select what you want to do
I think of it basically like having a mini Logic DAW in the Helix

They also are using a stepped chassis like atomic used to which is great and makes the top row much more useable and easy to hit

At first glance the encoders and their spacing looked very similar to that of the OG Helix products (though there are more of them.) Hopefully the spacing, tactile response, and/or acceleration curves are improved.
