Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

Because March 20th is the end of Winter? No, Stadiums should be available long before then.

Okay. I think I'm ready for my first gig with the Stadium XL tomorrow night. I leveled all my imported presets for tomorrow's set list, added in the acoustic sim and a parametric EQ to the acoustic patches (sounding AMAZING here at home). Even set up an Apple Music playlist to play in between sets from the iPad connected via the USB-C cable with the Matrix level set appropriately.

I will remember the setlist bug that bumps me back into the User Preset list if I edit a patch on the fly, and I'm prepared to tap Mode to get to shortcuts so I can switch between patches since 8-stomp mode went away.

Am I forgetting anything?

You mean that when you start cranking it, you hear a squeal-y, weird high pitch thing rolled in with the distortion?

I noticed that too. And cranking "Hype" doesn't get rid of it.

I hear it when you turn up the treble and presence really high on the Marshall Superbass too, although that amp model is way better and has a much more usable range before you get to that point.

I figured something was off too. I will say for Chili Pepper-esque single coil chording and licks...it does that well. And that's mostly what I use any Plexi model for these days.

But cranking it produces something waaaaaaaay different than the HX Plexi.

Aaaaaaaaaand nevermind. Just had to lower the first drive and the presence. Cranked Plexi goodness is back.

The Agoura Plexi is definitely a very different beast than the HX one, but it does the Kerrang well. Interestingly while I like a lot of the factory presets, "Cineplexi" and "Plexiglass" are not among them.

Easy fix, tho.

Fuck me sideways.

Just trying out Stadium with my Mark V in 4-cable-method for the first time.

Now, you will get a ground loop if you don't use a 1:1 isolation transformer at the amp input. But once you do that .... EASILY the same kind of audio quality as the Axe FX III.

But also.... can't believe I'm going to say this ... the Horizon Gate ?? Much better than any of the gates in the Axe3. Way less jitter, way tighter, it just works.

I decided, bollocks to Dynamic Hall... went straight for Dynamic Plate. I don't know why... but Dynamic Plate sounds much more like what I would expect from a Hall algorithm; particularly when you open up the dampening filter to about 12kHz. Combined it with the Space Echo.... This sounds fucking epic.

It doesn't totally surprise me line 6 could achieve this, to be frank, as I think better noise gates than fractal's already existed.

Currently my choice is sir audio standardGate for amp sim plugins. That's the best experience I've personally had with noise gates so far when sidechained.
