Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

I always thought alot of the HX models lacked mids. They were also overly bright and harsh which is why so many people were using hi cuts by default on many models. Sounds like Agoura has addressed all of this. Keep in mind I'm a clean to mid gain player. The heaviest amp I use is the BE-100 (placater)
The low and medium gain tones are top notch stuff.

I'm also loving the IIC+ higher gain settings, and don't hear "honk" or "flub" (Seriously, what is wrong with us guitarists and our vocabulary?) in the "Crush" settings in my preset.
“Honk” is widely associated with Boogies and especially the Mark series. It’s a product of the tonestack and gain arrangement and why you can basically DELETE 750hz and still be heard in a live mix.

In general audio folks communicate sounds with tons of these terms that we somehow work out between us (glassy, dark, bright, wooly, etc).

Maybe I'll pick a real IIC+ playthrough on YouTube and try to match it setting for setting to prove the point...
What do you think comparing to a YouTube clip is going to prove? There are people on these forums and even in this thread that own multiple Mark series amps. They know what they sound like.

Are y'all talking about a dedicated noise gate block or the gate on the Input block?

I simply use the latter and it does the thing for me.

I don't currently own one, but I've played a real IIC+ combo quite a bit actually. The Agoura IIC+ tracks with my memory of that amp. I only mentioned a Playthrough to have that reference material available to establish the Agoura model's fidelity as best I can.

I truly have no interest into trying to convice someone their ears are lying to them, same as you cannot dissuade me of my personal Mark IIC+ experience.

I take "honk" to be mids in this particular context, but I have no idea what a "modeler-sounding honk", as you say, would be. Maybe you can post a clip?

Yup I’m going to try to get some clips together over the next week or so. Unfortunately my recording chain is torn apart in preparation for some incoming family but I’m trying to get to it.

Okay - really dumb question. But I'm about to update my firmware and I saw this:

"Please update your Helix Stadium application to 1.2 first. Then, update your Helix Stadium firmware to version 1.2."

I have not connected my Stadium to my Mac yet, nor have I installed any "Helix Stadium Application". Is this REQUIRED? I didn't have to install any App when I first updated to 1.1 - I just turned on my Stadium, connected to Wifi, and followed the instructions to update to 1.2.

Further - when I go to "downloads" on Line6.com - and look under "Helix Stadium XL" - there's only 3 choices:
- Firmware 1.2
- Firmware 1.1
- Line6 Central

Nothing about a "Helix Stadium application".

Help!

Make sure you're logged in on Line6.com, then go to to Line6.com/software again. Helix Stadium should show up (after you've selected Helix Stadium XL in the first dropdown) as a product in the middle dropdown box between "Firmware" and "Line 6 Central".

Got it - thank you. I was confused and thought that was a link to the Firmware (Since it just says "Helix Stadium 1.2", but it's actually the desktop application. (Guess I'm used to the app having a unique name like HX Edit). All good now - thanks again.

What the hell man. it shouldn't be this hard.

Won't download from the Device itself for some reason.

So i then go to the app, "check for updates" - and get this wonderful message where the "download" button is greyed out:

interesting that it says "wifi and ethernet updates are not currently supported". Is that for the APP or the DEVICE? lol. Because Wifi is how I originally updated the DEVICE.

Anyway - I've connected my Stadium DEVICE via USB-C to USB-C ... and ... USB-C (mac) to USB-A (device)... to no avail. Neither will reveal the download update button.

So much for "turn on device and update firmware over wifi with the tap of a button."

Went through it during launch/Thanksgiving week. Could barely find time to power the thing on and rip some perfunctory riffs, much less real dialing in.
Yeah we have a double whammy this year. Hosted Thanksgiving, hosting Christmas, taking on captives in both cases.

Christmas - the time of year we watch movies about orphans finding families while simultaneously wishing we were orphaned.

Log in to your L6 account on the device. A couple of us ran into this and the issue was just that we’d been logged out for whatever reason.

If you're getting the -16, it means you're signed out ON THE DEVICE.

Make sure you're signed in on the website AND the device, then try it again.

@Fireproof Logout on the website and the device, and then login again on the device, then the website, and enter the code the device gives you.

I just did that. It is working here.

Ahh - you all are fine gentlemen. Thank you!! That was it - the device was logged out of the account. Maybe they can give the user a hint going forward. But at least now I know to check that.

It's now downloading - thanks again.
