It don’t matter cause the audience can’t tell the difference..

Every summer festival I've ever played or been to has not had drum shields on stage. 100% no drum shields.
.... and again, for larger stages where the vocal mics can be placed sufficiently far away from the acoustic drums, it isn't that much of a problem.... which is why most outdoor festivals have no need to put drum shields around the acoustic drums. In fact, I don't know if I have ever seen it either, and I was likely gigging before you were born.

Right. So you're just extremely extremely extremelllyyyyyyyy inaccurate with your words. Because you said higher end stages, and all the higher end stages I can think of, they don't use drum shields because they have the space.

In fact I'd go as far to say that it is low to mid end stages that use them. High end stages rarely have a need.

Idk @Orvillain is probably old enough to be my grandfather
dracula dead and loving it GIF

Fair enough.
The best thing about casino gigs is I know I'll be traveling light. The worst thing about casino gigs is those dumb plexiglass panels that make it so I have to really pay attention to count ins because I can't hear the damn high hats :hmm:rofl
Interesting. So don't they have enough high hat in the monitor wedge for you to hear it?

My own drummer uses the stick click method so the high hat isn't touched. He has vDrums, so I doubt the high hat would work for him as well anyway. Still, if we didn't have his area open to the vocal mics, we wouldn't be able to hear his clicks either. Good point.

I’m in my mid fifties, and the bulk of my live playing was done thirty years ago. Back then, we ran big amps turned up loud, people could smoke indoors, we could drink onstage, and blowjobs in the parking lot on our breaks were not uncommon. The after hours parties ran until well past daylight the next day.

You guys need to reassess your priorities.
