Is this the place you share your happy times?

Some days, playing and practicing almost seems like a chore. Almost.

Not today! I had the best time and just lost myself for three hours! I love days like today…

I feel like a kid again and I am reminded once again how much I truly love guitar and how much happiness and of the awesome feelings I get from it.

I hope others have just such a day over the weekend or sometime soon!

I’m grumpy… neglected the lawn during spring and my whole day is a mess pushing a mower that constantly gives me trouble over a lawn that is bumpy and uneven growing full of stuff that really isn’t grass I believe with some patches of grass preparing for the robot mower that I also neglected so it’s probably out of battery and I probably didn’t buy any blades last year and if I’m really lucky the boundary cable is chewed off by some mole the damn cat didn’t kill in time so this day becomes several days… and it rained this morning and I hate mowing when it’s wet because I can’t stand grass pieces that is wet getting on me and my shoes and my pants and I would like to just cuddle up in a fetus position in the tub and cry about it.

But then! I remember that somewhere beneath all the grumpy old fart bitterness there’s a foundation and meaning that builds on happiness. And I smile and remember that. And all the many things that make me happy. Playing with pedals, noodling guitar, reading this forum, the people here. Ohh.. I got kids and a wife to. Just a side note.

Yes! :cheers

I feel like it is something that comes around the more we work at it. Waiting on it
to arrive, as if by magic, is like waiting to go to work, or waiting for someone to
feed us, or waiting to get good at guitar by watching YT Gear Demos.

The more we work at things like contentment, positivity, and enjoyment the fitter
we can become with those things. If not then gravity just takes over and our ass
sags all the way to an early grave!

We are all blessed to have a creative and inspiring outlet---and the fact that it is
not easy is also rewarding. The few, the proud, the guitar geezer crowd! :cheers

I had it last weekend, but since I played til 5 o'clock in the morning (I WAS having fun!), it threw off my sleep schedule (schedule! I have no "schedule", HAHA) for the entire week. And I hardly played this past week.

But that's me with most things. If I enjoy it, I go hard for a while, then regret it to varying degrees.

You know you could go blind right Tom
😂

Legos sure are different than when I was a kid.

One Christmas I bought myself an Erector Set. My wife thought I'd lost my mind, but it brought back some good old childhood memories. I built one thing with it, and that was it!

I was a Lincoln Long Kid. :idk

Model Cars and Planes were cool, too. No. I did not huff that glue. I promise.

Maybe it’s because music is my hobby and I don’t have a band relying on me to provide, but if guitar starts feeling like a chore I put it down. I’ve gone days, sometimes weeks without playing because life happens and it just isn’t doing it for me. Then I have long stretches where I’m playing hours a day and I feel weird without a guitar in my hands to at least noodle away. I do feel that the older I get, the more I want the guitar in my hands (amped or not, I need to release that energy into the fretboard)

All of the above, for me!

My grandparents had a ton of Lincoln Log and Erector Set pieces from when my dad was a kid and all my older cousins. I LOVED the erector set stuff. I loved doing the models and dad and I got into RC cars/planes for a while. I really loved making the planes, just the framing of them was cool as hell.

I don't even see those die-cast metal model kits anymore. Those things were a blast.

Outside of knowing no theory, this is why I've never wanted to give lessons. The last thing I want to do when I don't feel like playing guitar is forcing myself to do it. It's one thing if I'm pressuring myself to do something in the studio, but I know how my brain works and the second I attach Money + Guitar + Time, I'll resent the shit out of it.

I did the planes too! In fact, I still have one I never finished. :facepalm

Lessons are easy! Only 1 in 10 are diligent enough to put in the time and effort, which
means the other 9 in 10 you plow the same row in the same field over and over again.
