IK TONEX CAB

Fwiw, for me they seem to be doing quite some things right here. Aux in, monitoring only EQ (as you can send the input signal to the DI out), hence monitoring only volume control, MIDI control over your monitoring EQ (which is great, neither my Stomp or GT-1000 allow for that), so you could remote control it without half-crawling on stage, plenty of volume as it seems (specs say 132dB), tiltback legs (unlike the stupid offerings from Mission Engineering and Laney).
All that makes up for a great live experience.
Obviously, it all needs to work and sound well. At that little weight, it might not be able to support some decent pushed air sufficiently.

It looks like there is no way to simply just analog-plug-in-to-this-unit to use it as a straight up, "flat", Modeler ""FRFR""-Amp.

I don't think that's the case here.

Plug into the XLR and then presumably you disable the on-board CAB IR using the IR Enabled toggle via software:

The marketing can be better. It is now being branded like a do-it-all.

So it’s great for home practice but also to perform live? Choose a target audience. This is great for live, can hit 132 Db … please do not try at home.

Right? With the relatively small price of a ToneX One, building one into this cab seems like a no brainer?

I would think the crossover (and likely some corrective EQ to get to flat) are DSP based. How many ""FRFR"" speakers are available that don't use DSP for crossover/correction? Honestly, from a mass market manufacturer, I'd trust a DSP-enabled speaker to be closer to actually flat than a non-DSP-enabled one. And if the goal is something other than flat...just.use.an.actual.cab.

Perhaps, but as it is, I don't really see enough features, from a user's point of view, that would warrant the extra 50% in price compared to a Fender FR-12.

The announced price is not great thou.

Yeah, the price is a bit steep. But for me, just the aux in and the "monitoring only" EQ alone are great already. And you just don't get that with the competition (which is really making me wonder, fwiw).
I will likely not be buying it any day soon, either. In fact, I'm more looking for a decent 8" monitor rather than for something bigger.
