I’d rather pay a few extra dollars for quality class D and keep the weight down. I probably wouldn’t buy one anyways, though. Guitar cabs suck in the room.

SS wattage measurement -- who knows. I don't think it needs to be that high, unless that value is, ya know, like at 2-ohms w/ 0.3%THD or something.

Tubes is easier -- when someone says "30 watt 6v6" you know you're talking about an amp with 2, MAYBE 4 6v6 tubes and what that is capable of. Which is not enough to stay as clean as I want a modeler amp to stay up to "playing with a drummer" volume.

Yes. Beamy, highly inconsistent depending on the room shape, stage construction, reliant on FOH mic’ing….etc.

Why does it need to have a tube power section?

It shouldn't.

That would mean modeled tones going into real tubes.. no thanks.

I'm sure even if they did, we'd somehow nitpick it apart.

As long as whoever designed the Catalyst fx functionality is not involved there's hope!

Why would I want to hear something on stage that isn’t representative of what the rest of the room is hearing?

A Helix-based combo would be a tough sell, because people are used to Katana/Mustang/Catalyst prices. The Tonemaster amps received quite a bit of negativity from people that don’t know the difference between a Peavey Bandit and an Axe-FX (they’re all solid state, and will never be as good as a toob amp). And Line6 isn’t about to sell anything from the HX line for $300 (Aside from the HX One, which is a completely different animal).

Exactly. But it has to be a damn good one and done "just right" to integrate perfectly with Helix Next, otherwise it will end up on the pile with all the other disappointing SS amps. I know it can be done though!

Meh. The Catalyst was done to a lower price point with some compromises for that price point. I get it and it's totally valid for the market that they're going for. A market which I assume must be huge. Good on 'em.

Been GAS-sing for the LFR112 for a while.. Those looks! The Fenderf FR12 looks great, but I can't imagine it looking appropriate if I were to play a metal mini-gig with those behind me.
