I was wrong about the QC

Back when I had mine the online consensus was that the captures were much better than the models - I thought so for sure, at least with the higher gain stuff.
Honestly a capture player would be fine too , especially depending on the price point

they actually had some models that were pretty decent though Like the Freidman HBE, 2203, 5153 EL34 red

A capture only player you say?

It sure is a pretty enclosure!
Just don't turn it on! Can't imagine the lengths they had to go to in order to source the cheapest and shittiest screen ever manufactured. A gameboy color has better color reproduction and black levels. The QC had the worst viewing angles, colors, black levels and light bleed I'd seen in years.

I tried to find my post about it on The Other Place but when I had the Helix Floor, QC and FM3 Mk1 at the same time I think the FM3 actually had the worst screen of the 3, followed by the QC. I remember the FM3 had pretty bad light bleed and very bad black levels.

The screen on my Axe-Fx 3 Mk2 is much better though, so I expect current FM3 Mk2s and newer production Mk1s are also like this.

My FM3 was actually a very pleasant surprise compared to the QC. Black levels and contrast are good, colours look good (not that it's super colourful 😂) and it's decently sharp. The QC screen was very washed out, the darkest colour on there was a fairly light gray and it was sometimes very hard to distinguish between orange and yellow, or blue and purple for example. I had pretty bad blue light bleed and the pixel density was pretty low. You could basically count the pixels on screen.

Cortex control finally looked like how I imagine the QC screen should be. It looks really good, I think.

I recall them changing their screen somewhere after the initial batch shipped and it fixed touch point issues and some dead pixel complaints
I had the first one and did not find it that bad , but I assume the part change they made iimproved it

I bought mine in december 2022. There are also a looot of complaints about the screen on the unity forum and discord (good luck finding anything on discord though!). Touch was never an issue and I even made a short video for those having issues with the swipe gestures, nailing it every time from several angles.

Screen brightness on 20 is not a good thing! You should turn that down, I have it on 2 i think.
