I really want a company to make a modern 1U rackmount effects processor

Me too;

Not for me thanks. Effects processor and built-in midi controller in the size of a Stomp XL? Yeah, I’m not carrying a rack.

The last one really. I had one but didn’t like the reverbs much. Probably the best all in one 1U in semi recent memory.
I agree, the reverbs are not good. I don't use reverb so that's fine with me. I pretty much only use the delays and pitch detune, and they sound good enough. I also love the relays for amp channel switching. The noise gate is good too.

Dammit @Desertdweller.

This thread just made me buy a cheap used G System to replace my aging G major 1 and fcb1010.

Looks like I may to have to put my IV back in the rack.

I'll be pestering you about it how to use it when it arrives no doubt 😅

Oh man I hear you. Your rack with the IV and the G Major sent me down a gear rabbit hole about 7 or 8 years ago I still haven't dug out of! IIRC, get the Laird Williams White Paper. It was a super frustrating unit to program until I read that.

Just for you Vince 😅 Fortin 33 and precision drive clones in the top shelf, going full 4cm.

My only peeve is I wish the ethernet port was around the back.

G system sucks tone pretty badly in the front end loops .
You can bypass the entire loop section by plugging into the "insert" return, that's after the loops and straight into the effects processor. That's how I used my G-System. Then it's pretty much like a G-Major 2, with the bonus of having a great foot controller and rack or board flexibility. For the price they go for today, it's a great option.

I experimented with running my guitar into loop 1 return and bypassing the front end DA conversion. It sounds ever so slightly better this way, Vs full 4cm. But the difference at bedroom volume was negligible enough that I'll stick to 4cm unless I'm recording or something.

I just use my axe 3 fx only with my X88ir. I don’t put anything digital in front and using a mixer to keep the analog dry . I hade a G major 2 and it was only just about acceptable as long as reverb was low in the mix.

yeah I wasn't talking about putting anything digital in front, just removing the loops section completely. . I don't think you understood what I meant. All good.
