valves don't pass any audio, they only translate audio. audio passed through solid state remains effected degraded original, audio passed through a series of valves (or transformer) is only an interpretation of the input, there is zero original signal at valve output. valves and transformers are wireless devices. food for thought. (lettuce isn't food)

That forum has somehow become a real cesspool, when it started mostly as a guitar amp fans board. Never venture into the off topic areas.

IIRC, even Cliff "hated to admit" there was something to them when he finally got one.

For me they are special because I was already into Robben and Larry in the early 80ies when many other players didn't even know about these guys. If I would have had such tone back then it would set me apart for 10 or 20 years before anyone would know what was going on

if the clipping recipe was common knowledge it could be replicated cheaply, but the recipe is complex (not difficult) and not documented, REsearch necessary to extract the recipe (Gramaticooooo). if the clipping recipe to get the Rectifier buzz out of a Marshall (Morin) was common knowledge, rectifier and SLO would be wholly redundant, but nobody know how, so "rectifier" sound remains "valuable" and "unique", because u can't get it without a rectifier. except all the "rectifier" recordings... AREN'T

So it’s the only guitar amplifier used in the recordings or blended in for the midrange?
Morins are notorious for being loose on the bottom end and rather bass heavy=needs a boost
and the master volumes are touchy.
Those records you mention are all stewed in that 90’s recipe..from producer’s & sound engineers/mixer dudes.
Not just this era/style of music, the entire industry.
Whatever sells-the industry hones in and steals
the recipe for “that sound”.
That’s why new music smokes pole.
Algorithms & machines dictate this now.

That account is 100% a sock-puppet someone is running, based on what I saw that account doing in off-topic on RiggedTalk about a year ago.



GGF is totally dead. I stopped even going there to read it because nothing is being posted.

Go browse OT on RiggedTalk and that basically all you will see..

Fake accounts vacillating between agreeing with each other, then arguing and insulting each other. Flip-flopping their own opinions every other day. All done to manufacture drama and site traffic.

it's valuable cause the recipe, not the components, the recipe is restricted access. what gain stage in a Dumble does the bag of rocks sound? what gain stage in a Carol-Ann Triptik Modern does the Rectifier/SLO "buzz" sound (p.e.r.f.e.c.t.l.y.)? figure that out and you can wire in the $5 of parts recipe into anything and get the Dumble "rumble". (treasures in HEAVEn) fundamental understanding doesn't get leaky caps after 20 years
