I am considering selling my two EVH 50w heads and maybe some other stuff for. new Friedman Plex.

Any owners or auditionists who wish to share their opinions on what I think is my dream amp? I am jonesing for this mo-fo.

How's your attenuator situation? Even though the Plex has a master volume...that's still going to sound different from getting poweramp drive out of the thing.

Gonna watch the vidya now but wanted to respond on the attenuator. I don’t have one.. since it’s 50 watts I was thinking maybe I could get by with the Bugera? What are you thoughts @laxu ?

Pros: it sounds amazing. It really does. I compared one to my 1987X and it delivers the plexi tone with a lot more flexibility than the 1987X with the switchable bright caps etc

Cons: it's a non master volume amp, even though it has a master volume, but it's PPIMV. So there's no effects loop and no way to run delays and reverb after the amp, without a reamp box. So that's something to keep in mind if this is going to be your only amp.

You should be fine without an attenuator since the PPIMV allows you to get power amp distortion (which is really PI distortion) at a low volume.

Also, avoid the Bugera attenuator at all costs. I melted one down at a show with my 1987X. Thankfully it didn't damage the amp, but it could have. It went straight to the trash can.

I’ll still have my JVM410H, JCM800 S20H, EVH 15w LNCHBX and my Fenders. But your point is well taken. This is the only amp where I simply don’t care about ANYTHING but the core tones. Weird I know.

Oh that's different then. I was under the impression you only had the 2 EVHs.
Do it then. It's a great amp.

What makes you Jooooonz 4 da Pleux?
Thanks for asking! Plexi are my favorite tones and amps of all time.

I have three bucket list amps. In theory any way… the JVM410H, JCM800 and a Plexi. I have the first two!

I think I’d prefer Dave’s Plex to the Marshall Studio or 100w SL1959.

guy I know ended up selling his Plex and got a BE50 Deluxe. He found he could get close enough to the Plex plus all the other tones the BE can do.

You’ve still got the JVM.
