Have You Bought Any Pedals Lately In 2025?

Pre ordered one of these Envelope Filters arriving February 2026👍

Went to GC on Sunday on my Tele search and played a bunch of pedals while I was there, I hadn’t heard a Tumnus or Morning Glory and was interested in both, they’re cool but I’ve got low-gain covered already in multiple areas. The Soldano pedal and a Friedman BE-OD were on the demo board and I was digging both of those, but the BE-OD REALLY grabbed me. I almost walked out with a new one for $200 but quickly checked Reverb and found one for $95, that’ll be here Friday.

I wanted to be able to take the Plexi50 from edge of breakup to screamin modded Marshall, the Hot Mod does it, but I have to keep the amp dimed with the Hot Mod Gain engaged and that removes almost all the versatility from the amp, so hopefully the BE-OD removes the need for the Hot Mod.

I also impulse purchased a Lovepedal Believe, a clean octave pedal. I figure for $55 I can give it a shot and if this doesn’t cut it, I’m just going right to a Fulltone Ultimate Octave next. That’ll be here Thursday. I’m hoping it does what I want it to and I’m thinking I might dig the clean octave more as I can stack it on top of a Fuzz Face, which I already love the sound of.

I’m now going on like 18 months of saying “No more dirt pedals” at the same time I’m expecting to see another Lovepedal SNS hit any day where I know I’ll grab at least 1-2 more dirt pedals. I almost grabbed a Halo the other day but for some reason haven’t been able to commit to a delay. I think I just might go with the Halo for now until something grabs my attention later.

If the BE-OD doesn't work out (re)consider the SD-1W w/Custom switch engaged which adds back the low end. It's the perfect overdrive for Plexi-style amps, IMO. The Custom setting makes all the difference.

I’ve got a regular SD-1 I use with it already, mostly when I have the Hot Mod engaged, I’ll give it a shot cranking the Drive up a bit. Hahahaha I’m not even sure I’ve ever heard an SD-1’s Drive past 9 o’clock. :rofl

I saw an SDE-3000 pedal for $220 the other night and snagged it on Reverb. That was Tuesday night and buddy still hasn’t shipped, just after I had two different sellers who both had tracking numbers less than 12 hours after I bought the pedals and had them here in 48 hours.

Edit- Picked the BE-OD at the post office today but have a buddy’s birthday shindig to go to tonight. I haven’t even plugged the Believe in yet.

Noice! Such a great freaking delay. I think it has gotten lost in an oversaturated delay pedal market. :idk

More op-amp and diode clipping. :banana

:sofa

I had a brief period in my broke ass days where I had to use an SD-1 as more of a distortion pedal
than an OD. Still trying to recover from that.

The regular SD-1 cuts a bit too much low end in certain amps. A Recto or 800 no worries, but with a Marshall Plexi the low end can disappear quick when boosted. That's where the Wava version of the SD-1 really shines IMO.

Yeah, the EVH version did its fair share of overshadowing on its own. There’s no way I’ll ever use a W/D/W rig outside of hooking one up out of boredom and there’s not many of those, if any, under $300.

I’m just about caught up on pedals, I could spend another 10 years shooting out dirt pedals but I’ll use the ones I have and be done (until I’m finished the rest of the pedalboard), I need the smallest delay that does a reverse delay on a tap tempo and a reverb, those are the last “needs” and I can start “permanently” mounting them to the board.

I want to get an Elastic Matress flanger, but I need to check how much room I’ve got. Being a shithead about keeping a full sized Fuzz Face, plus a wah, plus a Whammy….I won’t have room for the 10 fucking dirt pedals of various cork scents.

The BE-OD rips!!! Exactly what I was looking for and I'm impressed how well different pickups sound with it. I had every knob dead at noon when I plugged it in and knew as soon as I turned it on, the knobs are like mm's away from noon after tweaking it. And the Believe will do the trick for the amount I'll use the thing. You can indeed blend it with pretty much any dirt and it'll work. As a clean octave it's a bit gated/glitchy sounding, which I know some people dig but it ain't my thing. I might re-house it, I'm not a fan of those top jacks. At all.

I got the Plexi50's Normal volume on 4, not totally clean, then it steps up in gain with the Tchula, NOTADUMBLE, BE-OD. The compressor in front pretty much turns all of those into a lead tone and they also stack in various configurations well. The Strats and LP's both sound killer without making any adjustments. This whole time I've been trying to find a combination of dirts that'll get into this kind of high gain territory, now I can move on from that.

SDE-3000 guy finally sent a thank you message, but no tracking number yet. :hmm

I was thinking.....a VP4 would really solve a lot of areas I don't really want to buy specific pedals for, while removing a few others from the board. I think I might just bite the bullet. This was initially to be a non-modeling board, but this is just for effects and it's silly to limit myself here. The board has turned into my 'I can cover 90% of my ground with this' board and that would just obtain that much more efficiently.
