Would you mind elaborating?whole different dimension in the top end breakup

Would you mind elaborating?
studio pre top end is never harsh, you can't make it harsh, it's not possible. it's 100% cream, that can be pointed to be as tart as you want. it's on rails, you can't crash it.
no doubt due to presence circuit, and various pull shift options, mkii/iii/iv you can definitely fuck up the top end, the integrated amps always have a spitty element to the top end, a crackle of sorts, that you can never dial out. I think the quad has it too, never played one. but triaxis and studio pre don't crackle. not sure what it's from in the circuit, and in the mix the crackle is the same as rectifier buzz to make it pop out, but studio pre is it's own thing, always smooth, ZERO crackle.
this is line outs into an IR
Still waiting to hear from GC. Will probably call them tonight. Not overly optimistic about how this is going to go.
I fully expect that preamp is going home with someone who works there. I doubt there’s an issue. I think I grabbed it before they could. That seriously sucks
and all kind of red flags from the store
Do they know how preamps work? I'd almost be worried they were trying to do something dumb like plug it straight into a cab

It’s entirely possible someone disconnected the main/recording outs or something. I always used the fx send out to the poweramp because it sounded better. I wasn’t going to try to talk them through that, but entirely possible it’s fine. Someone else is going to find out for sure.u know how many times I've plugged into a GC head with no sound and found the cab plugged into the FX send
Here it is again, listed in GREAT condition. Note the comment on the listing lol. That was what prompted me to buy in the first place.
“Missing one eq fader knob; recently serviced, cleaned and tested..”
lol.

There are some non repairable/replaceable parts in the IIC+ and studio preamp. I’m uncomfortable with the level of risk, so someone else who is ok with it will get a crack at it. It’s all good.literally just buy it, shipping to and from Petaluma plus 2 hours labor and $25 misc very old components replacement parts, you're still ahead. actually more ahead, cause your $1200 studio pre has a 100% clean bill of health when you're done, the $1200 studio pre off reverb that plays fine already hasn't probably seen light on the traces in 15 years.
