This does sound pretty nice in the videos. So what is the difference between all of the different versions?
The preamp are based off of different Friedman amp circuits. They're all essentially different flavors of one type of modified Marshall or another. This does sound pretty nice in the videos. So what is the difference between all of the different versions?
And this one is red.The preamp are based off of different Friedman amp circuits. They're all essentially different flavors of one type of modified Marshall or another.
If the Friedman Jake E. Lee amps were just boring ass Marshall looking things, people would probably forget all about them. Make them red and people go "ooh, what's that thing?!"And this one is red.
I got mine today. Played my favorite Badlands riffs and of course Bark At the Moon. It does the thing. I'm digging it so far. Waiting for the VP4 to complete my "B-rig". I've had the IR-X for about a year(?) and they're definitely different beasts.
Yeah I'm sure the red was Jake's choice to match his band's name.If the Friedman Jake E. Lee amps were just boring ass Marshall looking things, people would probably forget all about them. Make them red and people go "ooh, what's that thing?!"
Looks matter!

This is the one thing I wonder about...did Jake switch to using a TS? As far as I know, it was all OD-1 back in the day.Mine arrived today as well and yes, it's the sound I was looking for No need to boost it with an SD-1 (to my ears) the built-in boost does the job.
It also fixes a few annoyances with the IR-X. The knobs are harder to turn (good!) and the mini switches are all vertical now, so there is even less chance to turn the knobs by accident.
...also it's red
You need the DI really need to hear a shootout between all these. I have an X and can’t decide if I want a D or J!
I want a clean to Hendrixian Dirty Plexi, and a hot rod AC/DC+ Plexi tone. I can get there with the X on Ch1 with boost, and with boost and pedals for the hot rod AC/DC+ tone. I use Ch2 mainly for leads.
Will the J work better for me? Or the D?
Roger thatYou need the D
Pretty sure he just cranks the amp and uses pedals for flavor here and there. Dave probably just put the TS circuit in there for the general public. Here's his amp setting from his last tour with the JEL protoThis is the one thing I wonder about...did Jake switch to using a TS? As far as I know, it was all OD-1 back in the day.
Nah, I take it back after some more critical listening. SD-1 boosts better...No need to boost it with an SD-1
