This is where we're at currently
Axe SPDIF out to Focusrite interface, output 2 to TC BAM200 into the Greenback 2x12. MIDI Captain wireless to Axe and Dunlop MVP connected to Pedal 1. Programming MIDI for the Axe wasn't terribly difficult at all, especially since it's up to the user to define all message commands - the only limitations have been the MIDI devices' own quirks. This will tide me over until I get that FC-6.
Gapless switching between three presets: Vox, Marshall, and Heavy.
Vox preset has the Class-A 30W Brilliant for funk, ambient, jazz, blues.
I vacillate between a squeaky compressed clean and a broken overdrive sound. I can only describe the broken sound as a soft sponge with razors stuck in it, only those razors seem to be existing in two dimensions at once. I hit that with the compressor into the Face Fuzz and the sponge explodes and razors shoot everywhere. I have a scene that activates pitch and plex delay blocks parallel to the cab block that gives me that instant "royal" Djent clean tone.
Marshall preset has a few scenes set for Clean, Breakup, Crunch, Boosted.. 70s rock, more blues, classic metal.
The clean and breakup scenes have the Brit JM45 and Brit Brown for the rest. Boosting the Brown with the Super OD and tossing in the Ram's Head and whammy at - 12 in front of the JM45 for some Doomy fun. I spent a good amount of time auditioning Marshall models, a lot more than I did for the Vox preset.
Heavy preset is the Mark IV Mid Bright, gives me the midrange chonk that I like without it sounding too much like a cocked wah tone, boosting with the Super OD. I've probably spent the most time auditioning high gain amps, with many cases of the "next day nopes" causing me to go back to the drawing board.
Then I have maybe two or three other presets, a Deluxe Verb kitchen sink preset utilizing send/return blocks, and some presets for trying things out/auditioning/tweaking.
Deluxe Verb Kitchen Sink (still need to add tremolo and delays, but ill probably also need to populate another MIDI page for bypass switches):
I've crafted a simple reverb out of the Plex Delay that I've been using across all presets - I haven't really dove into the reverb blocks yet other than for surfy spring sounds - today may be the day.
I've set the global SIC to default to the 2x12 5153 Stealth because that's probably as close as I'm going to get to my own cab, methinks? It's working out pretty well.
Bias trem on all models is very useful but i notice some amps' power sections don't "trem" as good as a dedicated block.
I really like the onboard expression pedal calibration, too.
Need more experimenting but I get caught in a trap of swimming in great sound and don't want to put my guitar down. Theme of the past week or so:
I literally began to sing this on one of my days off when I forced myself to take care of some home responsibilities I'd been putting off since delivery.
