Fender Tone Master Pro: Episode IV - A New Hope

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you want to do separate amp and cab, that's not as straightforward right? You'd need to change to the "amp only" and add a cab block, right?

Multiple cab management also seems pretty cumbersome compared to the competition where even Helix supports a dual cab option.

No, you can change the cab without separating them. You can do it both ways.

Say I’ve got a Deluxe Reverb. If I select the amp and the standard cab it shows on the screen like a DR. If I switch the cab it will show like a DR head sitting on the cab I selected. Or I can select DR head as the amp and there is no cab. Then I can add a cab further down the chain if I want.

The worst limitation with cabs is that each one can only have 1 mic. So if I want to do something like a 57 + r121 I have to use a split path and two cabs side by side. Which eats up space and takes up one of the only 2 split paths available to me.

Yeah watching Nathan's video a few posts back, that's the one thing that stuck out. The dual cab management is something Fender could easily improve by just making an updated version of their cab block where you can switch which mic you are moving around and it shows up as two dots on the position grid.

The dots are somewhat ok because at least I know it’s the exact IR they shot (you’d hope) and not some potentially dud IR interpolation. I can’t believe the clicking when you cycle through them though, that feels very weird

Yeah, that would be a huge improvement!

Unlock Brand New Sounds (now including bass) with Tone Master Pro's Latest Firmware Update

With Tone Master Pro, we are constantly looking for new ways to allow players to unlock anything from their favorite classic tone to brand new experimental sounds with different signal chains. The latest firmware update for the Tone Master Pro is here, and it is our biggest update yet. From classic Fender bass amps to powerful new effects, this update expands your sonic palette and enhances your creative potential, whether you're a guitarist, bassist, or multi-instrumentalist. Plus, we are excited to announce that we have now added bass specific amps, cabinets, and effects.

New Amp Models: A Fresh Take of Iconic Sounds

This firmware update introduces five incredible new amp models, each inspired by legendary amplifiers that have shaped the sound of music. Whether you’re chasing classic overdrive tones or rich, clean bass sounds, the Tone Master Pro has got you covered.

  • Fender '59 Bassman Custom: This version of the iconic '59 Bassman brings tighter, more rock ‘n’ roll overdrive with reduced bass response and four 10” Celestion® Greenback speakers. The "jumpered" inputs allow for mixing both channels, creating a unique sound blend.
  • Fender Super Bassman® Vintage: The all-tube Super Bassman® Vintage is a modern favorite for bassists, offering classic Fender clean tones, tons of headroom, and robust midrange punch. Paired with the Bassman® 8x10 Pro Neo cabinet, it’s perfect for pushing volume without sacrificing tone.
  • Fender Super Bassman® Overdrive: Take the best of both worlds with the Super Bassman® Overdrive. Blending aggressive overdrive with the classic clean tones of the Super Bassman, this amp gives you the flexibility to shape your sound with definition and articulation.
  • Rampage Blueline: Inspired by the legendary Ampeg® SVT from 1969, the Rampage Blueline is a 300-watt powerhouse that sets the standard for seismic bass tones. Paired with the Rampage Bass 8x10 cabinet, this amp is built for maximum low-end girth.
  • '66 Flip Top: For fans of vintage R&B and rock, the '66 Flip Top is based on the classic Ampeg® B-15, known for its portable design and balanced tone. Whether on stage or in the studio, this 1x15” bass combo is beloved for its versatility.
New Cabinet IRs: Sculpt Your Tone with Precision

In addition to the new amps, we’ve also introduced six new cabinet impulse responses (IRs) to give you more control over your sound. These cabinets are modeled after iconic speakers that are as essential to your tone as the amp itself.

  • 4x10 '59 Bassman Greenback: Experience the rich, vintage sound of the ‘59 Bassman paired with four Celestion® G10 Greenback speakers.
  • 4x10 Bassman® Pro Neo: Designed for maximum clarity, this cabinet features four 10” Eminence® Special Design neodymium speakers.
  • 8x10 Bassman® Pro Neo: For a massive sound, this cabinet pairs with the Fender Super Bassman® Vintage and Super Bassman® Overdrive amps, delivering unparalleled low-end punch.
  • 8x10 Rampage Bass: Modeled after the classic Ampeg® 810, this cabinet is perfect for those looking for that heavy, classic bass response.
  • 1x15 Bassman® Pro Neo: A single 15” Eminence® Special Design speaker creates a smooth and deep bass tone ideal for any bassist.
  • 1x15 Rampage Bass: Based on the Ampeg® B-15 cabinet, this IR uses a classic 15” CTS speaker for a warmer, rounder bass sound.
New Effects: Unlock New Sonic Possibilities

The update also adds nine new effect models to give your Tone Master Pro even more versatility. These effects range from overdrives to EQs and tremolos, allowing you to shape your sound in ways you never thought possible.

  • Greenbox 10: This overdrive is inspired by the late-‘80s Ibanez TS-10 Tube Screamer, delivering smooth, classic overdrive tones.
  • Mythic Drive II: Based on the iconic Klon Centaur, this silver version of the overdrive is known for its germanium-diode smoothness and musical, transparent tone.
  • Bass Overdrive: The Tech 21 NYC Sans Amp overdrive is a must-have for bass players, offering punchy distortion with clarity.
  • Stereo Harmonic Tremolo: A modern take on Fender’s classic harmonic vibrato, this effect splits frequency bands between left and right channels for a lush, stereo tremolo experience.
  • Glooper: A totally original looper, the Glooper creates multiple loops at different speeds, which can be adjusted, pitch-shifted, frozen, and reversed—perfect for creative exploration.
  • EQ-7B Bass Graphic EQ: A seven-band equalizer specifically designed for bass, allowing you to shape your low-end tones with precision.
  • EQ-7W Wide-Range Bass Graphic EQ: A wider-ranging seven-band graphic EQ, perfect for bassists looking for more control at both ends of the spectrum.
  • EQ-10 Graphic EQ: This extended 10-band graphic EQ provides even more detailed control over your lead and rhythm tones.
  • Virtual Capo: A polyphonic capo effect that lets you transpose your instrument by up to 12 semitones, offering new ways to experiment with tuning.
Scenes and Preset Import/Export: Total Flexibility

To enhance your live performance or studio workflow, we've added two incredible new features: Scenes and Preset Import/Export.

  • Scenes: Create up to 8 different variations of a preset and assign them to footswitches for seamless transitions during performances. Each Scene offers control over parameter settings, bypass states, and MIDI messages, allowing you to set up complex, multi-layered sounds with ease.
  • Preset Import/Export: With the new preset management system, you can now export your custom presets from the Tone Master Pro to your computer and share them with other musicians via email, Dropbox, or forums. Import them back into your setup for a quick backup or to access presets from your favorite players.

That's a pretty decent update. Nice to see some polish added. (y)

Just curious - if Fender had released the TMP first day with the firmware as it is now, i.e. v 1.4 would some of you have rated it differently?

To put it another way: was it released a little too early and would it have been worth them waiting a year? Or is it always better just to jump into the market regardless and improve or fix issues on the fly?

Waiting for the ToneMasterBro so I can finally assemble my wrestling metal tribute act.

I think if many of the people who wrote it off because of how the amps sounded were to try it now they would be surprised.

I think if the amps had sounded this way from the start it would have been received more positively.

Not a crazy update for me honestly. Happy that they’re tightening up the firmware and features in general though. Probably worth giving those bass items a go, I know a lot of people were complaining about it.

looks like they redid the Freidman BE . so that's cool

a good one for the bass players and poly capo is a nice addition
