I wouldn't say he "highlights the hiss issue," more like he pokes fun at it (and says it's a non-issue for the one he has).

Eh, he states it's not a problem for him, as his FR-12 is mostly there for live use. But Cordy goes out of his way to note the problem is real; it's quite telling that the hiss demo is absolutely noticeable through a room mike.

Came across much differently, to me. He says he's read about it online, but that "it sounds like it's turned on," and then does the close-up bit where he's whispering so that you can try and hear it, and says a computer fan would be louder.

He brought it up because it was an issue that he'd heard people talking about online, and then gave his thoughts on it and said it wasn't an issue for him.

And that's the whole point - if it's an issue for you, it's an issue, but not everyone has the same opinion.

Using a sound level meter app on my iPhone (SPLnFFT Sound Meter v7.0)

Holding the phone right in front of the cabinet in a quiet room/house, listening to an occasional car passing by 50 feet away through a dual pane bay window. I can barely hear the car as it passes while the sound meter reads 32dB.

Turning on the FR-12 with the knobs at halfway the meter goes up @2dB. Turning the Volume knob up all the way it goes to 42dB.
Note that I can't imagine ever using it set all the way up unless I wanted to kill my hearing capability and scare the people in the passing car.

I have no idea if I got an unusual one but if Cordy's is like mine I think he means the hiss is a non problem. The fans in the Fractal and Seymore Duncan PS170 and my Dell PC are all a much louder non-problem.

Don't disagree - just saying this is a well-known reviewer noting "yeah, this amp hisses". That, and the fact that he then notes "i use it to gig so i really DGAF" are not mutually exclusive :D

So I tried Guitar Center and Musicians Friend (same company same inventory) and they are back ordered. According to the sales guy, Fender says earliest availability is April 2024. Sounds like they stopped production hastily. Looking forward to comparing 2024 fr-12 to 2023 Fr12 s

For the n-th time, the FR-10 and FR-12 were announced less than two months ago.

Fender is NOT launching a MKII anytime soon - let alone stop production. By all accounts, the amps are selling very well.
Are you saying the gentleman on the guitarcenter.com chat who answered my questions at 3 a.m. is not an authority on the matter?

Mine is on the way from Fender. If there’s a MKii by April I’m holding you responsible
