Nowhere near the Model T thump of the Kuro Exegol I normally use, but it sounded legit.

The Katana is definitely an underrated amp.

At this point I run the mk2 100 2-12 in stereo with the artist 100 combo gen3 ….and for home use it’s a monster and has enough decent effects and tones and the foot control ex thing can be very versatile

Nice! If I like my Artist Gen 3, I will have to struggle not to get another for stereo.

How do the two you have compare @timbuck3 ?

I bought the mk2 100 2-12 initially and only got the artist gen 3 cause it was used and just happened to be at my gc days after I bought the mk2 used..
 
I own the Artist MkII, and I recently tried the Artist Gen 3. The "pushed" option probably isn't enough to make me trade in, though it is good. The real prize of those amps, for me at least, is the green Waza speaker. I love the blue Waza speaker on my Nextone Special, too.

The green Waza speaker is basically a Greenback variant afaik. What's the blue one based on?

The implication is a Celestion Blue. The way they say it is: "Custom Waza B12W 12-inch speaker delivers classic “blue bell” tone with rich lows, mellow mids, and clear highs"

I was looking at used nextone specials and if I found one super cheap would maybe buy locally but the katana offers so much more for the price

The Nextone is different, though. There's more to dial in when it comes to clean to medium gain, not tom mention toe two channels with individuals sets of controls, and that's worth it to me.

No, I believe you I’ve never played one yet but like I said if I find one used on the floor guitar center I’m more interested in the next tone special. I’ll probably buy it at least a ticket home and try for 45 days compared to my katanas and see What I do like my katanas in stereo with all the effects.
I wonder why boss has not evolved the next tone. I’m not sure if it’s even been discontinued, but they keep evolving the katana

Honestly, I don;t think there's a need yet. What they did with the Nextone is more targeted, but with a lot more depth. Even the Gen 3 Katana does not match it in terms of the ability to dial in those clean to mid gain sounds. IMO.

I think of it like my THR100HD. It hasn't had multiple versions because it didn't need them.

lol the thr100 he was a massive fail to me after trying many times hoping it was not. It wasn’t improved upon because it was a fail
