any relation to phil x?
any relation to phil x?
Y'all want some juicy gossip? Some people are saying the new version of the plugin actually sounds worse in some ways than the old version. I tested this myself, and its hard to say for sure. I feel like I prefer the sound of the old one, but it could totally be placebo.
However, some are theorizing that this version is "dumbed down" in order to make it work on the QC. I tested CPU usage on both, and the new version of the plugin is almost 50% more efficient than the old version. Is this due to better backend code optimization, or is this because the plugin really has been dumbed down?
Hard to say for sure
That will create a crap storm for sure , if people are testing the Og plugins and comparing and the X versions start to sound worse or lower resY'all want some juicy gossip? Plini X actually installs as a separate application to Plini, so you can have both. I will say the new effects sound good, I'll have to side-by-side the amps. Those of us that didn’t update today
Award-winning? Did they spell 'winning' wrong?Love the press release for this:
"There will be a CorOS update in the near future that introduces the functionality required to support plugins..."
"Archetype: Plini X will soon also be the first plugin to feature complete compatibility with the award-winning Quad Cortex modeler,...."
Just silly.

i heard the amps on that plugin are..really like the Plini plugin. Fender, Friedman BE=easy win.
I mean, these guesses are incorrect same old “got repeated online a lot” and got turned into the truth.i heard the amps on that plugin are..
amp 1 - based on Roland JC120
amp 2 - based on Friedman BE100
amp 3 - some 5150 iteration
You could pick many of their plugins and just call it a day after buying one. I could get probably 90% of what I want out of a Soldano SLO or Archetype: Petrucci plugin.Funny you say this. I'd been using Plini, which was my maiden voyage into plug-ins, for a while when the QC came out. I bought the QC after having purchased another half dozen of their plug in suites and went to town in Neural land. 12-14 months later just gave up on it all and went back to amps. BUT the one takeaway from the entire experience was that I should have just stopped after buying Plini and called it a day. It's such a great all around suite and the Friedman BE they modeled for his Amp #2 was really all anyone really needed if you could only have one digital amp imo. That thing is so killer!
Yeah, I definitely hear more Fender in the clean amp, the spongy low end and growly break up doesn't seem like Jazz Chorus to me.Amp 1=Fender Twin
Amp 2=Friedman BE channel
Amp 3=Friedman HBE channel
some people seem to say Amp 3 is a blend of 5150 and HBE, I’m more inclined to think it’s just straight up HBE.
Yeah I'm really interested about this. I might try a null test over the weekend. Do you think it sounds worse? My impression was all the newer plugins are using the ATI algorithm that Plini was ported to.That new octaver is REALLY good. Chorus is quite nice as well.
Not sure I like the new GUI, its still a bit small, some stuff (especially the clean amp) is smaller than it needs to be. Not sure why people were in such a hurry for this one to be ported to the QC. I don't have a QC but is there anything in Plini that you couldn't already do with the included models?
Also - they definitely aren't sounding the same to me. Not sure if its just a level or taper thing. The same presets loaded into both have very slightly different responses......so? more testing required
I couldn’t say better or worse yet…. I think it would be subjective anyway. I would say, it fixes a problem that didn’t exist for me - I was happy with how it sounded and wasn’t looking for any updates there.Yeah I'm really interested about this. Funniest thing is my favorite Plini tone came from Handmade Cities… which was mainly an AxeFx II for amp tone recorded dry for heavy parts (“JCM800 Rhythm via Preset #43, tweaked with added mids”).
Check out the 15:00 minute mark (and again at about the 45:00 min mark):Interesting. I though most of his early work was recorded primarily on Helix / Pod Farm.
