Anyone else getting sick of GAS?

I'm kinda curious what kind of gear Deadpool plays? I've seen him in the forums but don't know where he's going or where he's been.
I haven't been playing much at all since moving. Most recently I've been using QC through the FR-12. Before the QC I was using the FM9 through either the FR-12 or through a 5153 50w stealth. My history with 5150-family amps is *long and distinguished* (go ahead boys). Lots of stuff before those but that's a decent start.

Oh and I do love me some WDW. Don't have room for it in the new place though.

Have you run your QC through the Stealth as a power amp and real cab?

No I never did with the QC (that I can remember?). I did that with the FM9 (and left power amp modeling on) and it was phenomenal that way. The Stealth is gone now so I can't try it with the QC.

I want to pick up a standard 5150iii for the saturated lead. Was the 5150 not versatile enough to keep? I was just planning to run 4cm with my g11 and supplement with other pedals for mid gain.

Did the qc and fm9 give you better core tones than the 5150? Or is the fr12 much better than a guitar cab with tube power? I wpuldnt normally believe that, but you never know.

When I ran the FM9 in 4CM with the stealth, I found the Fractal models so good I ended up just switching to using the FM9 straight into the Stealth's loop to make it less complicated and with less potential for noise issues (I was using WDW a lot at that time and cabling could be a bitch even though I was only playing at home).

The FR-12 is the best "FRFR" I've tried and I'm plenty happy with it but I wouldn't say it's better than a tube power amp and cab. But it's great imo and is the closest I've felt to having an "FRFR" cop that vibe of playing through a tube amp and cab in the room.

I can see how it happened. And if you werent using the 5150 channels, why keep it?

So you sold and got the fr12.

100%, especially in the current climate of all these wankers on YT with their stupid faces and content for contents sake.

I’ve been through absolutely tons of stuff and there’s only been 3 rigs I can think of that have actually been worth a damn. My old 5150 that I toured for years, my Blackstar Artisan and a few pedals that also went everywhere and my old Kemper that I did 100’s of wedding and function gigs with.

And you know what, they all sounded great, absolutely no point in flipping any of those.

But the real reason they were so good was because I spent a huge amount of time making and playing music with them instead of worrying about what would sound better.
Yup, in 30 years that Kemper will still deliver the goods, as on day one of your use of it.

Yeah, it can suck at times.

Just when I thought I was done for a longer while, I caved in and ordered a bunch of unnecessary QOL stuff: a b-stock H&K Red Box (mainly out of curiosity), along with a cheap isolated PSU (to finish a backup board) and an extension speaker cable for my huge-ass amps at home (despite playing with headphones most of the time).

At least it wasn't expensive, 160€ ain't gonna hurt that wallet.

You must be a better player than I am ;-)

This is probably the first piece of digital gear that this can be said about.

After the Kemper, it is probably true of the Helix, GT1000, FXII, and several others. While the Helix is not my preference, it won't stop producing serviceable tones. Well, unless it breaks down. My bet is that the GT1000 will still be kicking in 2050.

I think it will be interesting to see how these end up.

I felt a bit nostalgic when in Japan I saw a used Yamaha DG-Stomp for about 20 €. It was all scratched but probably still worked fine, was tempted to buy one.

I think a lot of today's gear will be much loved by people on a budget, who can buy a GT-1000, or a HX Stomp for reasonable money by the time everyone else has moved on to The Next Big Thing(s). Even brand new, it has never been cheaper to get good tone out of modelers.

As much as we rag on it, I still regularly see the Kemper on TV concerts for halftime shows, amusement park shows, etc
I think like 3 people rag on it?

Atomic gear still sounds great within its limitations and can be had for VERY cheap used.

There are plenty of clean-clean-ish amp sims from ages ago that can get the job done as pedal platforms. But who wants to use an HD500 as a clean pedal platform that requires its own external IR loader; external reverb; etc. when you can get a PodGO for so little? And honestly, the HD500 can absolutely get the job done, cue me rolling out this ancient thing that I keep on my soundcloud specifically for this purpose. All HD500, including cab sim, with nothing but volume knob and pickup selector changed during the take:
