What Did You Do With Your Guitar(s) Today?

Made a few waterslide logos for the Frankenstein/Malmsteen inspired partscaster I'm doing. Not sure which color I'll use yet.
Going to prep and spray some clear satin coats for the neck today. I've relic'd the scalloped maple fingerboard and headstock, with the headstock being black and red - grungy style. Not something I would normally do, but since the body is very much relic'd, it had to be done to make it all uniform.

I'll try to post some pics when I get further along.

Either gold with silver stroke....or silver with gold stroke.....I would go towards the former. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If one color, I need to see the headstock, for legibility reasons.

You could space tape 5149 1/2on it🤣

Working on learning some new song ideas (erm or at least “parts” for future full songs lol) from my bass player today. Super fun, he’s a killer musician and always writing the catchiest odd time stuff. And the guitar parts he comes up with are always really interesting voicings/inversions that I never would have played myself :chef

swapped in a set of all low tension tuning modules to the tune of $50 each, because they're made out of fucking gold. hoping to use the normal set of 110XLs in drop A, but the 46 is just baaaaarely to loose, it locks out at A# flat as fuck. garbage. so i put it up in drop Bb for now, until i get some 48 and 49 wound singles in the mail. Vitamin R is all in Bb and B, Diary of Jane is Bb, but i just really dig having low 440 on a six string, and the standard guitar E is just one string up. so all the chords immediately translate, "A" major shape is E major, "C" shape is a G, "D Major" shape is A major.

with evertune, you can just throw a trigger capo on any fret and since tuning pressure is maintained from the bridge, it's clavichord perfect every time, miss me with the virtual capo. stainless frets don't wear, capo+evertune+stainless=zero fret. that's a free instant nut job that sounds like japanese custom shop for the price of a trigger capo. you can put the capo on the 10th fret of a electric tuned to drop Bb and it's basically a death metal mandolin. plus regular drop D LoG stuff is 4th fret and up, so all the frets are closer together. is that cheating? is Chris Thile cheating?

Combined "Guitar in/out" and "Pickup Swap Fest 2023-24" is complete, whew, was some serious work!

Now all 12 of my guitars sound awesome, no suckage anywhere. I almost don't know how to act nor to feel about that, it's been a journey for sure. I think I'm just going to be happy and content.

Well if I have to have a complaint or concern, the Ibanez S that I wanted so bad earlier this year just doesn't evoke the same level of amazeballs that my old one used to. So it's at the bottom, but it's still a cool guitar. I imagine no matter what 12 guitars I had, something is going to be at the bottom, so no surprise.

does it have the bridge with the ball bearings and damper springs? whyyyyy tf did they discontinue that. the knife edge of a floating trem is the only thing that can ever wear/damage

I got the green one, the only current one with a fixed Gibraltar bridge.

The one I traded 2 or 3 years ago was also fixed bridge. I just think I've found other necks to be more comfy, etc etc etc.

every S i ever picked up the neck/frets felt like a cheese grater. but i never picked up an S that wasn't a budget model, or a fixed bridge S. always the guitar center $400 HSH trem versions with the plastic canoe 5 way. they look cool af and technical but the tone always sounds like a roll of paper towels. maybe that's all budget ibanez tone. my Q54 with evo frets and baked maple neck feels like a wet glass pipe and sounds spicier than a USA 513 so they obviously figured something out

Mine's a Prestige, for what that's actually worth these days. Could talk for days about the issues I had with the Prestige RG I bought last year. Glad it's gone!

They definitely like extra-mega-jumbo XL frets! I need to polish the frets on the S, that should take a week with these frets! :grin

I don't think it's necessarily the fret size that makes me not like playing it, I guess it's just personal growth, lmao. Still a very cool guitar, unique in its size, and I got rid of the stock pickups (ToneZone/AirNorton) - which has always been important with Ibanezezezez. Although, those pickups sounded really good in the RG - for single notes if you only wanna wank on it.

Thursday night we played few songs as guests at a CD release party and brought only a Les Paul and clip tuner.

They told me that should have been an ac30 and a pedalboard on stage so that was fine for me. I love ac30s, I used one live with pedals few times in the past and sounded glorious.

As expected in these situations, there was no ac30 but a fender blues deluxe and no pedalboard. 😂

Jumped on stage, plugged in, twisted few knobs and played with the light spanking crunch the amp was offering.

Being a marshall guy for soooo many years, addicted to it's saturated sound, that had been quite and experience and I loved it!

I still prefer the marshall sound but now I want a blues deluxe!

Let me know how that works going down to A with a .46. I'll go to A on my Solar (w/ an Evertune) with a .52 but I have to baby the shit out of my picking hand playing that string. The Evertune DOES help, even though it's technically not functioning once I drop it, it's still better with the initial attack pitch jump than a regular fixed bridge would be. At this point I want to go to a 26.5" for anything lower than B, Evertune or not.

You could jazz it up a little........

Sorry RC, just saw this. :grin
Thanks for the effort, but at this juncture there is no jazzing up of the headstock.
In fact, the word 'jazz' shouldn't even be associated with this guitar. :roflThis will be a dirty, rock machine.

Lucky 13 is just around the corner...
