What Did You Do With Your Guitar(s) Today?

This past week was the longest period of not playing a guitar of some kind
since I was 18 and in bootcamp. :facepalm

Still a bit of Covid hangover. Hoping to test negative tomorrow. Today I did pick
up my Cantrell Epiphone and tuned it to Drop C. Pretty sure it wants to live there now. :banana

How do you like the bevel on the S2 compared to your other PRSi?

Aesthetically I prefer the looks of the core “violin carve” but I don’t mind the bevel at all especially because this 594 got a particularly nice looking top. I’ve been a little eh on the looks of S2s that are just barely flaming in conjunction with that bevel. I’ve read that the core carve takes 20 man hours so I see how the bevel helps reduce the S2 costs

I’ve heard a number of people say that they actually find the s2 bevel more comfortable than the core carve, but personally I don’t feel mich of a comfort difference either way

The ce24 seems to have the same general shape of carve as my custom 22, but it’s definitely more shallow

I’d much rather have the bevel than the virtually flat top of the SE models. And the bevel works really well with that body shape.

Early hour practice this morning, but strings are old and somewhat lifeless
ive been using EB 40-8.5 which are nice but by the time they get to stay in tune the tone is sucked out of them lol

anyone ever try these ? --->

I’ve mostly been recording vocals for that metal tune but I’ve still been working on the “Scarred” solo. I have the first half mapped out, now I’m at the ‘play it close to tempo to make your brain work right’ part. Plennnty of mistakes in here, but I’ll go through each trouble spot and figure out where the hang up is. Getting my pinky to land on every note correctly in that weird ascending part, that’s a good stretch and then it ends with that flurry/sweep, it’s a bitch not to tense up my left hand and speed up with my right because of the build-up in intensity of the part itself almost forces you to.

That's where practicing on a 6 string bass helps. Builds strength and stretch. Time to buy the one you been wanting.

I actually don’t have much interest in a 6-string bass, I’ve got a 4 and two 5’s, adding in a 6 would just get make me buy bigger packs of strings while probably ignoring that high B. :rofl

I was going off of your comment in a different thread talking about my Ibanez 6 string bass.

Those have my interest as well! I’d probably go for one of those before the Bass VI, actually.
"Look Drew, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over" :)

Hahahah well that’s a bit different than what’s generally known as a “6-string bass”

I’ve been neck deep in a few different things lately. “Cliffs” is on the back burner for a while as I start getting what I’ve learned of the “Scarred” solo up to tempo. I wasn’t practicing along to the recording or a metronome and when I went to friday night realized the section I was REALLY stoked to nearly pull off was about 15-20bpm faster than I was playing it. Ugh.

Got one metal tune and one electronic-kinda tune I’m plowing through. Then I capped off the night by modding up another 6CA7 preset just for the Orville because if you’re gonna roll your own Jose, you might as well make one for each guitar!
