What are you listening to right now ?

Listened to the album last night. Not as bad as I feared, nor as good as I hoped. Feels like they’ve just phoned it in for the last few albums, 10 songs just scraping 30 mins. the choruses tend to flop out and the riffs sort of wash together without any big epic moments. The days of KSE writing genre defining bangers feel long gone, and the more albums they release, the more that first Times of Grace album starts looking like one of KSE’s best albums.

Really good drum/bass/guitar tones on the album, although IMO the guitars and vocals are too quiet and the drums a bit too loud. To me it sounds like a rough mix with good source sounds but like it’s ready to be taken up a notch and get all the dynamics and emotion hyped up.

For fun I tried recreating the guitar tone, interestingly I got pretty close by running the 5150 with mids REALLY high up (like getting towards max), running it through a Marshall V30 cab. Not how I typically run a 5150 but it works well for this stuff and is worth a go.

Sometimes I like covers of some songs. I don't compare the original artists with those who cover them. Just like listening to good performers.

My dad says that I listen to older songs more frequently than recent music. I don't hate recent artists. But it's somewhat cringey to listen to a performance with 20 people dancing on stage, and a backup singer singing vocals - with the actual artist singing louder than him/ her.

Wow. Are they the Nickleback of Metalcore now?? :idk

:rofl

I have liked the 2 songs I have heard. It sounds like KSE. Maybe even more concise and trimmed down.

I am eager to listen to the entire Album. Maybe tomorrow while I am vacuuming and cleaning up the house. :chef
The mix is, for lack of a better term, "weak". MirrorProfiles called it correctly in his post about KSE.

The riffs are there, but it's just not explosive with energy, kick seems too forward, and almost seems like the guitars are single tracked just no balls to the audio experience, I can barely tell there is bass in this track - no bottom end support outside of the kick which seems to be hovering in it's own universe - just doesn't seem glued together sonically.

Definitely weaker than The End of Heartache, Rose of Sharon, My Curse days. Even with Jesse, In due Time's mix had a lot more energy and punch.
