What are you listening to right now ?

How have I never heard of these guys before?
Me too! Apparently these guys have been at it for over 30 years, about as long as DT.

I did give a listen to a few songs off their latest...., Idk.... Maybe I'm not in the best frame of mind atm, but just as I was getting into the music, it would just take this turn into left field. Like, wtf just happened? And sure, DT does this all the time (and in some songs I also feel like, WTF was THAT?) So, Idk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'll try some of their older stuff.

Oh and yeah, dat guitar player is fucking SICK! Seems like it's par for the course these days though. Know what I mean?

I hear ya, Tom. I discovered them last week and then found out they were from the same Generation
as the DT fellas. Maybe they got stuck in Europe until the Youtubez came along. :idk

There is definitely more singing than in DT. Singer has the same register as James. They could probably
stand in for one another. :lol

And yes, the guitarist is sick as F! He does that Petrucci/Steve Morse thing where he often switches to the
Neck pickup for some shreddy higher up the neck passages. :rawk

I dig them. :beer

You know, back when I gigged with my LP and PRS, I hardly ever cared for the tone of the neck PU alone. Blended with the bridge PU..., hell yeah! In certain contexts, and especially with the dual tone/volume controls of the LP, I used that combo often.

But since having the Majesty, I LOVE the tone of the neck PU! So creamy. :chef It even surprises me how easy it is to pull out harmonics, something that was totally foreign for me on my Les Paul.

So recommended the new Snoop the other day. Been going though songs randomly. Didn't realize he did a track with Sting repurposing Message In a Bottle. Um; HARD pass on this one. Love Snoop; Love Sting. NOT a good combo. He also did a reimagining of Last Dance with Mary Jane and that is also a HARD pass. Oof. I hate the original in this instance so it's even worse.

Luckily there are some other gems if you dig OG Snoop. Hard Knocks, Thank You, Pressure, Sticcy Situation :satan

if you want to listen to a masterclass in mastering ..listen to that album

I like books. I like music. And movies and series. And sometimes it just really take a while until you find something that you really dig. I really like Sayce.

The best Dream Theater song you've never heard. These guys are amazing. Prog
with hooks, and virtuosic performances across the board. I'm in. :beer
