Video Games

I picked up Hollow Knight switch 2 edition when it launched and I just beat the final boss (radiance). Having beat Silksong first I basically walked through most of the game :rofl There was a huge difficulty spike at the end but nothing as brutal as Silksong. I probably would have enjoyed the game a lot more if I hadn't played Silksong first 🤔

I've never done true ending on HK...I did play through it again recently as it's fun and just more casual than Silksong.

I'd love to see some kind of mode on Silksong where you can work on individual sections without modding. I spent a couple hours working on Last Judge and improved so much but you'd never get that with the real game. And you need that to really improve in the hardest spots.

Meanwhile I spent the last several weeks playing Stardew Valley again but petered out as it's a grind and I already did 100%. Now trying Animal Crossing again as one of my kids is obsessed with the game and really wanted me to get into it.

Also picked up Blue Prince but puzzle games like that aren't super grabby so we'll see.

I need to get back to Hollow Knight - I got stuck at a certain boss and got tired of the run back and never came back to it.

I liked Blue Prince at first, but also got tired of too many run throughs of no progress that the combination of slow page and repetitiveness got to me.

Hollow Knight runbacks are nothing compared to Silksong...honestly Hollow Knight is a really fun game and it's a bit hard but the difficulty scales really well IMO. Silksong is amazingly fun but really unforgiving until you get very deep in the game and a bunch of power ups. Hollow Knight I found was easy to get power ups earlier on and make it a lot easier.

I can't think of a single boss runback in HK that was bad, but I could name a few in Silksong :rofl Then again I beat most bosses in HK on the first try. Getting to the normal ending wasn't terribly difficult, but after that there's a steep increase in difficulty.

I feel like exploring was more tedious in HK, because of the placement of fast travel locations and the character movement being so sluggish compared to Hornet.

Ok so I played Hollow Knight for a bit tonight and got to phase 2 of the boss. Wasn’t as bad as I remembered, I’ll probably take him down in a few more attempts. Those jerks trick into thinking you are done and then they come back with phase 2!

Which boss is it?

I had a friend over that wanted to watch Fallout last weekend, which got me to download Fallout 4 again and give it a shot for the 4th or 5th time. This time it stuck and I’ve been spending way too much time on it, damnit. Just this morning I discovered the whole Creator world. Didn’t think a game nearly a decade old would get me that excited but I’ve been having a blast with it.

My previous attempts only got me into the Commonwealth where I pretty much gave up fighting the first Deathclaw, but I took some time to learn more about the game rather than jumping in and dying, which is what I did previously. I can see me digging on this for a while.

I still haven’t finished Ghost Of Yotei,

It's a great game, though I am finding the latest upgrade has broken a lot of my saves, especially mod ones

PSA: Minishoot Adventures (currently "free" on Game Pass) is amazing. Like, "oops, haven't played guitar in three days band split, worth it" amazing. Twin stick metroidvania perfection. :)

Got a PS5 over the weekend. Playing RE Requiem, Silent Hill 2 and a few randos from the PS store. Graphics uptick on RE is truthfully; insane. Great game but simultaneously frustrating af as the female character is one notch above useless and that seems to be half the game

Ended up finishing RE4 remake before the PS5 shift. GREAT game. Definitely fed into the PS upgrade.

Requiem is a blast. The inventory and control system is consistent and a good thing to carryover. In Leon's case; at least. Grace can carry like 2 things at once. At least until you grab the fanny pack upgrade. Which seems to require you to have a pile of antique coins on you which can never carry because you don't have enough room to carry them :cop

I think I am heading towards the end of the game as I now in what I think are the last 2 Leon centered levels. It's a bit more subdued as far as hinting what you need to do. I am definitely a cheater in that regard as far "oops let me look at this walkthrough on my phone real quick"

Good times \m/
