Video editing on Mac … what do you use?

I picked up a base model Mac mini. I switched to windows back in 2007 for a job and kinda just stayed with it until now.

On windows I used Ableton for music and Camtasia for video editing. When I ordered the Mac, I had Login Pro installed but I didn’t get Final Cut Pro. So, what is everyone using for video editing?

I make use of Camtasia for clipping out dead air, transitions between scenes and green screen. Nothing major like color grading or whatever it’s called. It’s just a few YouTube videos. What do you suggest for me?

Still cheaper than standalone FCP even if you already have “Login Pro.”

Try out iMovie. Probably perfectly capable for what you need to do.

Well, it looks like all I had to do was go to my Techsmith.com account and download the version that I have a license for and it allowed me to install it on my Mac. You can now call me dumb for not knowing this.

I'll be over here being dumb and happy. :sneaky:

I'm deep into FCP 'cause I just know it very well. DaVinci Resolve I've tried a few times though. It's isn't as strait forward at first with bigger learning curve, but it's more powerful.

I use an 8GB ram Mac mini and probably paying too much for the Adobe suite. As long as my editing is reasonable, I guess it does an acceptable job.
